2020 M550i long production time?

I've ordered a 2020 M550i a few weeks ago.
My status says production started but with a completion date of 8/30
I've ordered many BMW's in the past, and never had a car in production that long. Is this normal for this car?
TIA

The plant is shutdown for the next month, or so.

Aug is when pretty much all of Germany goes on vacation.
This is also when the factories take some down time to re-tool, etc...
So I think its all factories? Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe they stagger these shutdowns. Or try to, depending on work to be done. G30 has at least 2 assembly lines in Dingolfing, one of which is shared with other models. They both might be shared, don't recall. And there's the production line in Steyr, Austria.

Then there's September shutdowns for Oktoberfest. You don't want a car built on a Monday during Oktoberfest. Hangover city! LOL.

I think all the 5 series (for specific markets) are made in the same plant in Germany. There's been recent posts elsewhere talking about customers being notified (or informed after asking) that the plant is down for 'August' delaying completion of cars people had already seen enter the build process.

Ok some quick Googling says the 5 series is made not only in Dingolfing, Germany but also Magna Steyr, Austria. It's possible that plant is still functioning. My M5 was definitely made at Dingolfing for a US delivery.

If you have been given your vin you will know at least where it is being built.
End result is that there is nothing you can do about it, it's the most painful part of the process but picking up the car on delivery day makes up for it!

The status you are seeing indicates it's entered into the production queue, not necessarily physically started. Mine sat in this status for about 2.5 weeks.
