Merc to stay in F1 past 2020

It seems as if Merc is going to stay i F1 according to this article.

Also, the signing of a multi year deal with AMD confirms that.

there is no reason for Merc' not to..
they do profit a lot, boost their image and keep BMW away from F1 in a nutshell..

A counter point would be that Mercedes really has nothing else left to gain at this point. They've set numerous records during the turbo hybrid era and the only real benefit they can gain is just extending those records. They've got their money's worth in advertising during this period as well. Why risk being usurped by another team in the new era? The changes in regulations are quite extensive. Big changes like these usually have an effect on the pecking order.

That being said, racing through 2021 isn't exactly a confirmation that they will in the sport long term. As I understand, one of the purposes of the Concord Agreement is to outline the prize structure for manufacturers for X amount of years. If a manufacturer leaves F1 before the contract expires, they incur heavy loses (more money usually gets paid out towards the end of the agreement). So, if they sign the new Concorde Agreement, I think that will be a better indication that they are staying long term.
