Going to put on the Brembo NAO pads tomorrow. Is it standard procedure not to grease anything on these style pads and calipers? The information I was able to find said don't even grease the contact points between the spring, pad ears and pins but I'm thinking that leaves a lot of opportunity for squeaking.

Any input?

Edit: ended up putting the lightest amount of grease on the areas most prone to squeak. So far no noise whatsoever.

Nice that you were able to find a set of NAO pads. Please keep us updated on how the brake dust compares to OEM.

I believe Rockauto sells Brembo NAO from pads for some 540's with silver calipers. I used them on my Porsche 987 and found them pretty good, but not a dustless as I expected. Have used other ceramic pads on Porsche and BMW F10 that created less dust.

I didn't even think to check RA for the pads first. I ended up paying a little bit more but I'll remember for future reference.

The NAO pads produce an incredibly reduced amount of dust, it's shocking how little they leave versus the stock metallic pads. The dust also washes very easily off the wheels. I'm pretty satisfied, the reduced bite actually makes braking a bit smoother for my passengers. No other performance reductions I notice and no noise and zero clicking.

Noticing the price of those front discs - in March did you get them for £260ish for the pair? Looking at most sites now they're over £500!

I only ended up buying the brake pads (redstuff) and sensors last month. Cost £206 using FB15 for 15% at EBC Direct.

I did notice that the brake discs have doubled in price - At the time I wanted to buy the rears were not in stock. They are still not in stock today. BMW main dealers (I've rang 3) have quoted around £760 for OEM replacement discs. That's still cheaper then EBC with the 15% off so more then likely I will just get the OEM ones.

My current discs don't have much of a lip and the car has just done over 42k. However in terms of ages, they are 4 years old so I'm tempted to get new ones. The discs look fine froM the front but I have seen cases where they are more corroded on the side you don't see.

When I did mine I didn't replace the rotors only because I couldnt buy them to be delivered the weekend I was free to do the job- they also looked fine no noticeable lip etc. Now a month+ in on the change I'm getting a slight but noticeable judder at 40mph only with light braking- my luck lol. I think a rebedding will help.

All that to say, definitely just replace them all at once if you have any question or doubt.

Also, the Brembo NAO pads are pretty nice. Dust reduction is incredible and performance is still very very good. Would recommend for anyone trying to get away from the stock Brembo dust.

Finally had my brakes changed this weekend.

Ended up going with Genuine BMW brake disks and EBC Red Stuff Brake Pads. Prices of the EBC disks have more then doubled since I started looking into this so opted to go with the BMW ones which worked out alot cheaper from main dealer.

I'm currently in the bedding in process. Looking forward to seeing how these EBC pads perform and how much dust they generate.

So far I like the EBC redstuff. They probably throw about <1/4 the amount of dust that OEM pads left.

Ended up buying the genuine BMW rotors from FCPEuro to take advantage of the lifetime warranty. When I put the new rotors on and reused the NAO pads I just installed (2-3k mi) they had the slightest uneven wear from the old warped rotors and put cosmetic blemishes on my new rotors.

So now whenever I do pads I'll just eat the shipping costs of returning the old rotors to FCP and put brand new ones in each time.

I love that about FCPEuro. It's a great place to get consumables like gaskets and stuff.
