530e power output in various modes on depleted battery
I came across this video where someone tests the 530e powertrain in the the various modes on both a depleted and fully charged battery. It seems having charge doesn't effect the power output at all. Only thing that seems to change power output is putting the car into Sport mode vs Comfort.

I have never run out of boost. I think BMW has the warning because in the most extreme circumstance it could happen and BMW doesn't want to be sued. But for normal use, there appears to be adequate amounts of available juice even when the battery capacity gauge reads "---" or "0". For normal driving, you only need the extra power for acceleration.
