MPE. I know there are some vendors working on 'connecting pipe' solution for the MPE so you don't have to cut your stock. I suggested it to a vendor and they said it was already in the works.

The workmanship on this system looks great, but I don't care for the carbon fiber tips or diffuser. The Akrapovic lettering all over them looks like something the NOPI crowd would get excited about on a Civic. If that's what you like, go for it.

Not meant to be negative, and very sexy set up BUT . . . . minimal weight savings and minimal power gain for maximum price. I respectfully suggest you are much better off just buying a good set of DPs (race cats and ceramic coating at $1,500 or so) if performance is what you are after.

I can't understand Why anyone would pay the price for this exhaust. You will never see how could it looks once on the car and 7hp is weak..

I feel like its both: downpipes are the restriction and the oem exhaust does a good job. It actually looks like an exhaust system, vs a can of a muffler!

Tnx guys for a good review. I'm really interesting in how the DP's will sound and how much they will give with the stock ECU.

That's what we'll be confirming when we have the other EVO system installed on our M4 in the next day or so. We'll be sharing data when completed.

i find it funny how 90% of the comments are all positive towards this system. yes it looks great, yes it is lighter, it sounds better than stock, but it offers nothing more and with a price tag like that who are you joking. the akra evo for the e9x was at least "justifiable".

Looks wonderful and no one can fault the quality of work. However, that "7 whp gain" is negligible and you'll never notice it, ever. Paying the several thousands for this system gets you nothing tangible; just bragging rights.

Appreciate the feedback guys. Surprisingly, there's been little info on these systems and we wanted to get most questions answered in one post. If there are others, we can add it to the front page.

The Akrapovic systems are not for everyone, but it's good to have choices. Different stokes for different folks, that's what keeps the builds interesting.

With the gains so small here and the good M performance exhaust sound, I don't see why somebody would go this direction.
Akrapovic has downpipes being released within the next 30 days.

Install is scheduled within the next couple of weeks when the Akrapovic M3 makes a return visit, we'll be gathering another before/after dyno run to compare results with ours.

Appreciated. We'll also be playing with the JB4 to see what gains are present, as well as bringing it to the upcoming airstrip events.

Typically M cars runs very well out of the box, but the turbos are a whole different ballgame. A proper tune should complete the package well.

The combination of a single mic, inside a shop and compressed video clip is always a recipe for disaster for audio. We'll be getting some proper sound clips, I happen to know someone with professional audio equipment that has provided scores for some of the large movie studios.

Here's a good example used on a supercharged E92M3. Audio switches over at about 0:12 in the video:

And some images of the setup. Microphones used are Earthworks QTC40.

We'll setup a session with the Akrapovic EVO system on the M4 and get a clip posted as soon as we're completed.

The Akrapovic badge is only seen on the top of the diffuser. Here's some studio shots we just finished shooting:

Let me know if there are any more questions or feedback.

Hope you enjoyed the experience as much as we did. We'll be installing system #2 shortly on our Austin Yellow M4 w/ Downpipes and following up with comparative results.
Tom - What tint (brand and %) does the Akra car have in these pictures?

Is anyone making DPs with race cats? I really don't want to throw codes or to work around them. Also, I still want to keep the tail pipe emissions within the legal limits.

$7000.00 for 7HP, seems legit....another way to go is wait a few months and when the air is fallish, youll feel an extra 7HP from God, OR option 3, drill some holes in the muffler and get more noise for free
