Actually Akrapovič started as manufacturer of exhausts for small Slovenian mopeds called Tomos Automatic. Bigger bikes came latter.

I still remember in early 90s when everybody installed them and making incredible noises moving slowly past you.

That is Akra on that moped

This makes his success even more remarkable. Hats down!

I'm Croatian (neighboring Slovenia) and I'm very familiar with those Tomos'. I learned to ride a motorcycle on an Tomos APN! And manual on a Yugo lmao!

Great times.

Agree.... I dont understand how they expect people to pay over 5k for an exhaust with negligable gains overall.

On another note, I dont know how the hell the big american exhaust companies like ARH, STAINLESS WORKS, BORLA, CORSA, FLOWMASTER, B&B, MAGNAFLOW, MRT, and SLP make great exhaust systems in all types of materials for like 500-1500 max with REAL HP gains while we are clowned by exhaust companies for thousands and a couple HP. I don't get it. Wish these American companies put some R&D in for our cars!

Beautiful piece of kit, but without real performance or weight improvements, hard to justify that price. 7hp gain seems pretty low.

Tom - on the audio front can u explain how the active sound works or doesn't work when this mod is completed. Does the louder natural sound from the exhaust overcome the active sound inside the cabin or does the active sound just get louder?

The reasons to spend this much additional money boil down to #1 the look (from underneath), #2 the quality and #3 the sound. I'd like to know if with the windows up the active sound will still be what you hear and hence you the driver get little benefit on reason #3.

Thanks!

I too have been anxious to see some dyno results after downpipes, but they've been out for a while with multiple companies selling them and no one has come forward with any results...hmmm. My guess is this is due to modest gains or perhaps the ECU responding poorly to the addition. My guess is downpipes will end up only showing meaningful power bumps for cars tuned for them.

We've dynoed the Gintani, Racewerkz Engineering and Evolution Raceworks DPs. Maybe we can get a separate thread with charts for everyone.

Just got ours installed this evening - will respond to this once I get some seat time.

the other exhausts for this car will not perform any better then the arka... and the prices will be similar

I have a Corsa for my truck and yes it was cheap compared to my arka, but it is not in the same league for fit and quality. Sound is always subjective, just enjoy the cars

Had the pleasure of seeing and hearing this car in person yesterday and the BMW M Track Day @ Thermal. The dry carbon diffuser was stunning in person and looks great on the rear end.

Michel, not sure if you are watching this thread but very nice meeting you!

~7 hp sounds about right(Don't want to thread jack so PM me if you are interested to know why I said that).

Remember, with the valves fully open the OEM system is very close to a straight pipe with very little restriction in the secondary cats and center resonator.
