Climatize on PHEV 530e
Hi friends!
So my understand on the Climatize feature is that you need electric power to use it. Assuming I'm heading somewhere that will finish my electric power and I would like to keep some to be able to warm up the vehicle, what settings should I be using? Ideally I don't want to have to drive in Sports mode. Also, there's an option about the Battery (Sorry I don't recall this exact option name) in the settings and it's currently at 80%, I have no idea what is default and what this means. -Vehicle is a 2020 530e- Any help is appreciated |

Yes, you'll need about 20% or so charge on the HV battery to use Climatize.
You can use Battery Control to hold a charge. |

If your 2020 is like my 2018 530e, you have an "edrive" button for drive mode. Your car will default to "auto" but you can press the button once and it will go to electric only mode (so long as you have enough electrons) and a second time and it will go to "battery save" mode. To be able to climatize you need some battery capacity. I primarily use the feature in the summer at the golf course so the car will have been sitting for five hours or more in a very hot sun. I use battery save mode set at 70% or 80%. When I finish the 17th hole I take out my phone and turn on the AC. By the time I get to my car it is comfortable and the preconditioning has consumed 2-3 miles of my battery capacity. Well worth it. My ride home will use up the extra capacity anyway.
From your email it sounds like you have somehow gotten stuck in battery save mode. |
