2024 G60 / 5 Series - first photos

Looks like we avoided the buck tooth look ! I'm really happy about that.
No divided headlights like the 7 series either.

I eventually figured it out. It really doesn't show too much that we haven't seen. I think the grill will be big, but not as big as the 7. I think the new G60 grill will be similar to the 7 series grill that just phased out.

There's a set they got several months ago, but recently (last week) they got another set with the real Headlights and Tails. You can also see through the camo that the front end is not getting the vertical vents.

Still nothing out there of the Production model wthout cama, but as I said, I'm happy we're not getting the Vertical Vents.

No dual heads is the first win. Need to stay away from giant grill, which it looks to be and the obnoxious sharp angle bumpers like the 3series. I was wondering if I'd be driving a macan turbo in 3 years when this lease is up because everything else in bmws lineup is horrific. This could be the saving grace.

Might be wishful thinking, but it doesn’t look like there’s enough physical space for much more than a moderately-sized grill. Overall, this design looks more conservative (in a good way) than much of bmw’s other new stuff.

Yes, I totally agree with this. I am excited that the 5 seems to be the last one standing, carrying the flag of a more conservative BMW design. In that same thought, I think it will be easy for it to look more conservative, given what we have to compare to. So, if the grill is bigger than the G30, and looks something like the 7 that just phased out, it will still be conservative by comparison. Obviously, and thankfully, it doesn't look to have the vertical design. The body shape also has a bit of an E39 shape, but maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there.

What's turning me off (which aren't shown in these particular shots) are :-

Lcd dashboard , similar to existing new models. Just don't like the look of it, looks "cheap" to me. Moving controls to screen also I don't believe is the right approach

Non round steering with a flat bottom. Why????

As always I will make my mind up for sure when I actually see one in the metal but from what I've seen, I'm happy to keep my g30

First glance through the camo, looks very much like a G30. Kind of like an LCI to the LCI. I'll be getting one for sure.

The big grills will be reserved for the higher line-up models / flashier cars. They say the big grills are for those who wants a "look at me car" and yes it does draw attention for sure..

I'm not sure I would call the 4-series a higher-line flashy car.

...and they certainly don't scream "look at me" with the horrible "Nostrils of Doom" as the Wall Street Journal called them. Every month when I get my Roundel magazine, if it has those grilles on a cover car I always turn it over and recycle it as soon as it I read it. Would like to see what BMW is hiding under the camo; the camo does not preclude the double Edsel grilles in my opinion. We'll see.--Bob

I think the big changes will be in side , specifically the dashboard which bu some spy shots looks to be that large curved lcd panel .

Steering "wheel" as previously mentioned

Otherwise I suspect it will be quite conservative. Too different I think will put off traditional buyers

Subjective of course but I'm not keen with the design of BMWs recently. There's definitely some form before function going on inside with what I consider gadgety items .
It's enough to put me off and I suspect I will keep my g30 . Perfectly happy with it. The g60 will be I suspect the last 5 with a ICE in it

I suspect that I'll hate the new interior dash. I love the physical buttons for AC and the knob for navigating idrive. That might be enough to get me to trade my 2018 CPO 540 for a 2023 CPO 540 in 3-5 years.

But eventually that will be the way of the world for all manufacturers and I'll get over it.

Well depends how you look at it, a 2 dr coupe / convertible starting easily over 60k to 70k with a few options is not going to be your main car and will most likely be your second vehicle. And regardless if its your first or 2nd vehicle, for someone who acquires one might want some attention. Also, depending on where in the US one lives, spending 75K on a convertible is a lot of money.

Definitely not defending the design lol. Just relaying what they said the strategy is for the big nose.

Those are good points but I get what Joe is saying. The 4 kind of has a broad spectrum.

Yepp, unfortunately it could have been a "flashier" car but its not due to the design...

And lease rates on coupes/convertibles are always higher than sedans. The M440i vert goes for around a $1000 month.

A $1000 a month sportish car in my book should look hotter!

If the seats in the 4 are like the seats in the 3, I wouldn't pay $500 a month. Total crap.

All good. I was more referring to a normal plain vanilla 4 series, not an M4 or M440. The $40k 4 series has that grill.
