Santa Ana winds were bad last night. How was everything at your place? Any damage? No damage here, just a big mess.

My daughter and I planted a pine tree from a sapling 30 years ago. It's about 35-40 feet now. Always worry about it when we get one of these big wind events.

No damage to my place near you. The wind caused the power outage in my patrol area though. Glad everything was okay in your neck of the woods.

Get um! How many different codes are there? You know them all by heart or reference other sources as well.

I figured the power outage you were talking about was from the winds. We had the lights flicker a bit last night and I thought we might lose power but we never did.

Way too many for any mortal to memorize. Lol! I would estimate that I have at least 150-200 CVC and penal code violations memorized and only need to reference those 2" thick books if it's something I haven't written. In my early days in law enforcement, I made flash cards of the most common vehicle and penal code violations and memorized them. Whenever I would write a citation for a violation or arrest for a crime I hadn't memorized, I would make a flash card and add it to the stack. Over the years that has resulted in a me being able to quickly access the information needed by memory. It especially comes in handy when I get challenged and I can rattle off the statute verbatim. It shuts people up.

Here come those Santa Ana winds again...

Until you posted, I didn't realize that was an actual thing beyond the song...

I think it's just lovely though that you and your daughter created such a legacy if you will.

When is this madness going to stop? I am heartbroken over the two young NYPD officers that died after being shot when responding to a domestic dispute last week. They were babies; 22 and 27. Rest In Peace. Be safe out there, Sedan.

I find myself asking the same question. No outrage. No show of support or empathy from the organizations. It's horrible.

The politics that we currently are subjected to with woke, progressive soft on crime is disheartening. It's organizational as well as the media. I have to believe that the silent majority still exists, it's frustrating that they are silent for the most point.

Be safe, and know you are supported.

For those not in the tri-state area, three NYPD officers responded to a domestic call. One was a trainee, with only weeks on the job. The two FTO's went into another room to confront the male half, and left the trainee with the female half.

TL;DR the male half snapped, shooting one officer dead and seriously injuring the second officer. The trainee drew his service weapon, and shot the male half twice. The suspect later died from the hospital from those gunshot wounds.

I hope that this trauma doesn't make the trainee reconsider his decision to join the force.....

At least he died. Good riddance, no need for the useless justice system.

FTOs had some melanin, did the trainee glow at night?

If we continue to embarrass the leaders like making Newsom see the trash on the train tracks, MAYBE law abiding citizens can walk around

After both the officers were down, the dirt bag continued shooting them. I think it's too bad said dirt bag is also dead. He should have rot in jail for the rest of his life.

The sad thing is that had he survived and went to prison he would be a hero as cop killers are held up high.

I believe that the trainee was of India descent. IIRC from the talking head reports, he worked for the NYC Taxi/Limousine Commission as an inspector and decided that he wanted to pursue law enforcement instead.

Given the state's bail reform and mental illness laws, the dude would probably have been released without bail and then have the DA refuse to prosecute him.....

I'm sorry to hear of this - I did not know of it at all. And what makes it worse is the "enablement" be it the shithead DA/justice system in that state, or the lauding behind bars of the dirtbag had he survived.
This is why I want to tell those with their ACAB bullshit to "give their balls a tug" - bunch of hippies living in their communist mindset.

Policing is a tough job, mentally and physically. I feel bad for the cops' families and friends - and that poor trainee too - he'll remember that incident for the rest of his life (and hopefully it's a long life)

I suspect you were being sarcastic, meanwhile here in The land of progressive woke-ism.

^^^^^ Can't "like" that post! ^^^^^

The new NYC Mayor (who is a former NYPD officer) was flapping his gums on TV yesterday about creating a new anti-gun team in thirty-something of the precincts that account for over 80% of the gun crimes. In the next breath, he said that it wasn't going to be like the last anti-gun team, because they wouldn't target people based on where they live (like say, in one of those thirty-something targeted precincts). I had to rewind that and hear it twice more, to be sure that I wasn't cracking up.....

From our regional news:

https://midhudsonnews.com/2022/01/26...n-apartment-2/

TL;DR - A woman was charged with attempted arson a few months ago, but cut free because "attempted" arson does not qualify for bail under the crazy new state laws.

Yesterday, she disconnected the smoke alarms in a multi-family house, barricaded herself into her apartment, and set the place on fire. The other tenants got out safely, and the fire department and police forced entry into her burning apartment to pull her out as well. Six innocent people are now homeless and traumatized by this, and it could have been prevented if she was held after the first attempted arson.

On the bright side, six counts of attempted murder apparently still qualify for a mandatory jail stay under our bail reform laws...for the time being. Dollars to donuts, she'll be declared insane and on the streets again before long because it's inhumane to jail mentally-disturbed individuals.....

There are times when I think the movie Swordfish had something to teach us. Something more than what Halle Berry's boobs look like that is. And not international, but domestic.
