Now if you are referring to the 535i GT, that presumably started in MY 2010...but I am referring to BMW sedans (not including the 1-year-off convertibles, Mx models, etc.), which have historically had a 7-year US life cycle. e.g. E39 (1997-2003), E60 (2004-2010), so on...
No, Laki021 is right. The F10 was revealed on November 23, 2009.
So if the G30 will be revealed next month, you're pretty much on a 7-year lifecycle.

No 550i either. I am slightly disappointed, but I guess it just means that by the time I get my G30 they will hopefully have any initial kinks ironed out.

2) The E43 is expected to start around $65k and likely cost $80k with typical options, so it's going to be priced more like the M550 than the 535 (and performance-wise likely won't be much of a step up from the upcoming 540, if at all). And the M550, which will again likely cost a smidge more but be close, will demolish it.
Pricing will be in line with 540xi MSport, so will be cross-shopped as competitors.

I have to say a little disappointed in the color choices, no Mineral Gray or Space Grey and the selections with the M Sport Pkg are even less so not even Silver!! As I'm sure you can guess i prefer the grey/silver shades lol

On the other hand BMW is obviously again not offering sports exhaust as an option on 540i, while M550 is arriving later
The only huge downside of Macan is that it does not have a HUD, if Porsche would offer this, I would take it for sure immediately (they don't have it even in the new Panamera, incredible).

Small update
On Saturday, we took Macan for few hours for a test drive. And now, it is out of the game
Macan is a fantastic drivers car, but once you start using it as a normal daily car you start missing BMW. Bigest problem, it lacks space, the interior, yes it is high quality (but still I think that high quality is overrated, there is nothing so good) but it looks very old and so nice, especially whole central console is a joke. My wife was actually quite upset with the interior look.
Once you start using infotainment system, you immediately want your BMW back, its years ahead.

After that, we went to the BMW dealership to take a look at the 7 series interior (since the new 5 is going to be 90% the same inside). Immediately, we felt relaxed, so nice, so luxurious... She was like, that's the car!!!

So finally, I will be ordering 540i xDrive the first day when BMW starts accepting orders. Then as soon as BMW releases power and sound kit for it I will install it and bump the power to ~380hp (my estimation), with a great sound and estimated 0-60 time ~4.5-4.7s, what more you can ask for

End of story

P.S.
I would take Macan in a heartbeat as a second car, but for the only car in the house, too many compromises...

Nice review. But, do you like to drive something that many other on the road drive too? Porsche will be more exclusive...

Not really.
First, I don't really care about that much, for me it's much more important how I like the car and how I personally enjoy it. Yes, Porsche is more exclusive but that is not an important parameter on my pros and cons list.

Second, where I live and work, you would honestly not believe how many Macans are around, for sure more than BMW 5s I know, this is probably one of the very few places in the world where this is the case, but Porsche is here not so exclusive as somewhere else.

Now when the G30 is out, I am 100% sure we made a good decision

Bluestone metallic seems to be color on 540 in the press photo, the color goes from almost SilverGray to a light Blue depending on lighting. Will of course have to see it in person before making any decisions.

The thing is, I don't even consider Macan as an SUV, once you are in, you don't fell as you are in an SUV, when you drive it, it does not behave like an SUV.
I like it's taller ride height and the siting position (for this reason I currently drive 5 GT, bit higher but not a truck as X5 or Cayenne). I was thinking of getting X5M, but after a test drive I did not like it and it's whole SUV feeling.

New Panamera is absolutely gorgeous, but except that the siting position is simply to low for me and is significantly more expensive, I think it also lost a bit of its Porsche charm due to this new fancy interior with zillion touch buttons, complicated infotainment system (it's hilarious you need go trough the menus to adjust air circulation direction etc), and even with all that mumbo jumbo BS they still don't offer HUD (should I cry or laugh because of this).

I honestly think that the new M550i will be able to compete with the Panamera 4s and even beat it for significantly less money(OK, it wont be so beautiful) while the new M5 will be a match for Turbo and later Turbo S. Its simply more practical car with similar performance, better infotainment and it has HUD!!! On the other hand Panamera will most probably sound way better which is a huge fun factor.
I am very disappointed that they are not going with M550i from the beginning. And also, I am a bit bored of the same BMW interior I am driving in for the last 10 years, I would like some refreshment (it is still very nice, but a complete refresh would be more than welcomed for the old BMW drivers).
I hear you. And everyone's different. Just please don't buy a Macan. Please.

I guess quite a few on here have not yet got used to the BMW (German) way. Perhaps they'd like all the bells and whistles as standard, and have a big increase in base price.

Then we'd have the other complaint, "why am I having to buy options I don't want..." Wait a minute, we already have that in some topics.

Forgive me if already replied to later in thread... Leather and Heated front seats standard in Europe for G30
