Lease Mileage Charge

Hi all,

I have a 2014 528i and am looking to get a 2017 530i. I remember when I got my lease, I had 15,000 miles per year but now for the 2017, I don't expect I'll need more than about 13,500. I know in the past, they allowed you to buy miles during the lease (up until 120 days before lease end) at the price of $0.16 per mile plus tax. Does anyone know if that is still the going rate? I figure if I do that, I would save more by getting a 12,000 mi lease and buying the extra miles throughout the lease (since I don't know exactly what I need).

I believe it's been increased to $0.18

I just ordered a g30 also and my CA said it's 25 cents per miles. since when did bmw raise it to 25 cents? It used to be 18 cents for all cars other than 7 series.

That's good to know, not sure why my CA is saying .23c, seems like multiple sources are saying .18c.

As per my CA,

BMW changed it about a year ago. Now all cars are .25 except 6,7, and m's which are .30 now.

Wow, honestly that was one of my major decisions to go with a BMW when I used to have unpredictable driving patterns. I used to get a 15k lease and buy more as I need them.

Gladly though I changed jobs to something with a far more predictable commute and I was thinking of going between the 12k and 15k. I think I'll end up needing around 14k miles, so at 16c, it would've made sense to get 12k then buy the extra 2k annually. Now with these prices, I'll just go with the 15k and have that extra cushion in case I need it.

Thanks for the info guys.

Just turn your lease in early and get another one.

Yes, it's $0.18 if you buy miles BEFORE the lease is up (for M cars included). Not sure where you guys are getting 0.25 or 0.30 from. That might be the charge if you turn the car in and don't buy miles beforehand.

It used to be 0.15 per mile and they changed it last year apparently.....which is a crock. I leased the car when the 0.15 was the rule and was counting on paying that....BMW was very unhelpful. They should have honored the 0.15 for those who already were in lease contracts when they made this change.

Found this on Bmwusa.com 5 series lease offers -
Lessee responsible for insurance during the lease term and excess wear and tear as defined in the lease contract, $0.25/mile over mileage allowance pursuant to the lease contract, and a disposition fee of $350 at lease end.

Sounds like the .25c is if you buy at the end of the lease instead of throughout. It's so darn confusing, but I guess that's BMW's mantra these days.
