Thst looks excellent! Just black vinyl? Not exactly like LCI tails but very good abs way cheaper! What did you pay to get that done ?

I like it!
For these I paid 150$ Canadian, on the F90 I used the lamin-x pre cut sheets, measured and cut myself.

That does look good. Helps take the edge off the size of the tails.

Was that a precut kit or did someone do that free hand?
Free hand using vinyl and 3M knifeless tape

Wow, nice work. I just googled knifeless tape, I didn't know it existed. What width did you use and did you use a different wider width for the corners? Can you post a close up pic of the tape on the lens?

We're the lamin-x pre-cut sheets overlays that would've covered the entire taillight?? And you used the knife less tape to cut out the centers??

Like the other person who posted I was not aware that knife less tape existed but a couple YouTube videos educated me and I can see how that would be essential in doing that project.

I think your idea is an excellent way to make the existing headlights on pre-LCI cars look a little more sporty and updated without doing a full-blown LCI retrofit

I'm going to look around and see if I can find a local shop that would be willing to do that before I would attempt it myself!

I'm curious how that idea would look with vinyl like you did it compared to a tint that has some translucent to it ??

I feel like I would destroy and scratch up the taillight lens attempting to cut this properly lol. Hopefully there's a kit...or maybe a wrap shop could do this inexpensively?

Nah, if you google knifeless 3M tape and watch a few videos, it can be done fairly easily or at the very least, amenable to trial and error. Take it off and start over if you don't like it. No knife or razor necessary.

I would have messed with this if LCI's weren't an option.

Ok so maybe I confused some of us here, I'm just gonna repeat.
The white 540D is done by a specialist with black vinyl and using knifeless tape which I provided him. it was the first time he ttempted soething like that and he nailed it.
The Donnington grey M5 I did myself since I had more time. I used the lamin-x precut sheets. what I did is measured the non lit part of the lights and cut the lamin-x using scissors. knifeless tape is only good for vinyl but not on lamin-x. It takes some patience but totally doable.

I've always tinted my tails because I felt that BMW's red on them was too much. I much prefer them tinted, and it adds to the look of the car. Medium tint is the way to go.

I kind of like how those lights look with the vinyl around the edges I put this project on the back burner and I've seen so many new cars with the LCI tail lights but I don't wanna spend 1000 bucks and recode a car I'll probably sell in a couple of years….

I'm debating if it would look better to just do a light tint across the back of my tail lights or do that vinyl edge thing…
