Just purchased a new G30 530i

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
So I just had our 530i delivered... drove it around the black... I was curious as to how I would like it since I just went from a 535iX to the 530 (V6 to a V4)... I am shocked. The power is absolutely amazing. Very impressed... just curious to figure out all the gadgets and electronics (HotSpot Wifi, Com instead of tel... and all the new updates)... any major features I should be aware of?

What spec is the car, what options do you have on it?

Not a whole lot. I leased it. And these cars aren't leasing out too well... its just a blk/blk with the basics... It drives 100x nicer than the F10 though... And Wifi is standard.. pretty interesting.. a lot of "standard" features that were options on the F10... Got it for the wife... she loves it... she says "its so much lighter". Hilarious... Just sold the Cayenne too. Debating on replacing it with either another Cayenne or the new Panamera... itching to replace the F10 M5 too with the G30... M5. Apparently BMW is doing a track day for M5 owners in January... can't wait to try it and see the difference... Apparently the G30 M5 will have selectable xDrive... Should be interesting...

I see... you've got what I REALLY wanted... G30 540i X Msport
For the same price I can lease an M5 here in the states. That's how poor the lease is on the new 5 series

yes agree its a lot better than the F10. as you say a lot of items that were options on the F10 are now standard.

In terms of items to be aware of, well worth reading the manual, tons of stuff in there that's easy to miss. Worth spending some time configuring the idrive, amazing how much can be configured to your taste.

for example (just my preference)
I don't have the driver experience modes display differently on the instrument cluster. I've selected the same display that is present in comfort mode for that as well as eco pro and sport. I've also turned off the magnifier on the rev display.
the driver experience mode can also be set up individually.(except comfort) so quite a few settings in there.
Eco pro you can select if you want coasting or not. I also prefer it not to turn off the airconditioning to save fuel.

So those are just a few examples.

Congrats fellow LA G30 driver! Haven't seen too many of them out and about yet. I turned in my F30 early and picked up mine about a month and a half ago. Absolutely love it, though it feels like a bus compared to the F30.

Numbers wise, MY17 has good deals because they're trying to move them, once the MY18 530 and 540 shows up, no one will want an "old" car. When I leased mine, the resid on 17 was 4% higher than the 18.

Congrats!!!
The G30 530 have better motor than the F10 528 4 banger.
Should be sufficient for your wife.

As timmahh mentioned, it is not too many G30 out there yet. Very surprising.
I got mine for 5-6 months already and I still rarely seen them on the road.
I also opted for the ?17 since it have a better deal. Even though all of the ?17 doesn?t have power trunk standard, I don?t think it is a deal breaker.

Enjoy your car!!! We should do some meet for LA G30?s owner.

Congratulations
I was amazed at the power delivery of the car when I first drove it. It felt like a no less than a six cylinder in terms of the performance.
Happy Driving

Power trunk is certainly not a deal breaker... but at this price point one would imagine it to be a standard feature... specially when "Wifi/ HotSpot" is standard.

Definitely should plan a G30 owners coffee and cars...

Don't be too happy with Wi-Fi/HotSpot yet.
It is only free for the first 300MB/3Months.

If you are on AT&T plan, you can add the car into your plan for $20/month as I was told by the BMW Genius.

Seems like it can leech the data from your connected phone and broadcast it via car's Wi-Fi, but I haven't play around with it yet.

Yep. You are 100% correct! 3GB/ 3months free, -whichever comes first and then $20 mo. for unltd. data. Or $10 to share with your existing cell phone plan.

Also Apple CarPlay IS available if it did not come with the car for $300 for 20 years. Bahahahahaha! They said they will give me a free 1 month "trial" version.

So now I need to go see the guy who did the programming on my F10 and see if he can add ApplePlay... also XM/Sirius is on every car... even if it's not mentioned on the Window Sticker... every BMW G30 has XM. You just need to call XM and have them unlock it for you. Comedy what manufacturers are doing these days...
Hilarious.

We should try to put something together, it would be fun. Where are all of the SoCal G30s that replied in here roughly located at? Something centralized to everyone would be good (.. with also big parking spots so no one dings our babies!). I'm around Weho.

I think somewhere around West LA (Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, etc) may work best... and perhaps do a drive up the coast to Malibu? Just a thought...
