I have only done tint at Tint King in Billerica. I have had my cars PPF at both UCC and Q, UCC is better in my opinion.

On edit: Not bagging on the kid, but he shouldn't bankrupt himself for a f'n car. Drive a shoebox and save $$$$ up until you can afford to drive something nicer as well as having an emergency fund set aside to deal with the inevitable car repairs.

I told him to call the independent BMW mechanic I work with to see if he can help him out. The kid just texted me and said the trans slipping issue got worse and the cars leaking coolant

He should probably get rid of it. I think it's time for the grave yard. 165k~ on an N55 motor is pretty good imo

If you can afford to maintain an N55 engine (or BMW in this matter), they'll last 150k+ miles. But in the 19-year-old case, he really can't afford to maintain his BMW. Every paycheck he gets from working at the dealership gets spent on the car.

He paid $9k for it (which I think he wayyyy overpaid for) a year and a half ago when the car had 140k~ miles on it. PO had no record of OPG, VCG, OFHG, or anything else being done. The kid is smart and can work on the 335. But, I think he's going to end up spending too much on the car especially if the transmission is on its way out.

The water pump is otw out (you can hear the pump running when the car is off. Hence, draining the battery). OPG is puking oil (I wouldn't bother fixing that), VCG leaking, transmission is slipping the list keeps going.

But, I'm not his mom or whatever . Just trying to be a good friend.

Sometimes I wish I had not sold my 328. I got everything replaced on it that can go bad on the N52 except for the water pump and thermostat. But, I got $3k above retail for the car. Made no sense to keep it. Hopefully, the B58 is as great if not better than the N52.

Washed it. Hopefully getting it clayed, polished, and coated this weekend. Got a little paint chip on the bumper I’m going to let the dealer’s 3rd party guy fix (selling dealer is paying for it, he found and disclosed it when they were loading it up for shipping). Hopefully that will be done Thursday and I can leave it with the detailer Saturday to be picked up Monday.

I eventually will do the wheel off ceramic coating done too. Two things about the 664M wheels - they’re much better looking than I thought before I got them & they are a BITCH to clean. Too many damn spokes and the caliper is hard to get to, but on the upside it’s harder to notice when it’s dirty.

I used Sonax to sit and work before rinsing it. Then I foamed the car with Meguiars gold class and used Adam’s Tire and Wheel with a brush while the foam sat on the car. Rinsed the whole car. Then foamed again and used two bucket simultaneously. Last thing I did was hit the wheels again with soap and an old retired mf mitt. Dried and used Adam’s Graphene Detail Spray.

It came out good, of course, but I have two comments:

1) This fucker needs a clay bar worse than the paint correction. That said, the paint correction will do it good also.

2) I’d say the wheels are about 90-95% clean. I don’t think they’ve ever been properly cleaned. I just didn’t have time to spend another 20-30 minutes getting into every single crevice. But after two washes, we are getting close. After the ceramic is done, I’ll have more time to dedicate to the wheels. All in due time.

3) I’m so tired of touching this fucker. I miss the ease of washing a ceramic coated car. Foam, mitt, rinse, dry glass, blow dry, touch up with a gauntlet towel. No heavy towel work, no detail spray to get the glisten. I’ve been spoiled and I’m ready to get back to it.

4) I also washed the X7 and I have got to let that shit go. Takes forever and requires a ladder. It’s just hard for me to let it go.

Anyway, here’s some pics. I finally got one that shows a lot of the spectrum of color in one image. Last picture, the rear panel and the driver door look like two different colors.

Looking forward to seeing the finished job
That’s good work there!!!

Yep, besides all of the cosmetic benefits of a paint correction and ceramic, the ease of washing and drying is gold. I shit you not, I can do my full routine which is the same as yours (but no buckets needed) in 30-45 minutes including the interior. The new X5 takes me double because it has no quality coating.

Have you driven this fucker yet or spending all your time cleaning it!

Haha I’ve been driving it. I have had it on the interstate a couple of times. Haven’t had much room to accelerate from a stop or slow roll. I punched it last night for a quick burst and it’s crazy how it wakes up. Don’t realize how asleep it is sometimes until I do that.

Yep, I am kind of in the same boat as you not having driven mine for 4 months. Yesterday, coming from the X5 B58, it was kind of like you coming from the 540. Just a beast to step on, even just a little punch from 10 to 40mph jerks the head. My Dinan tune also doesn't hurt. Had the windows down yesterday too, so was able to really hear the exhaust.

In the spirit of "What did you do", I did have to change the FOB battery again. Man these things eat batteries. It wasn't like I was using the FOB either for 4 months. Energizer Lithium.

Any Bimmerpost member selling his car:

Potential buyer: “do you have any pictures?”

Bimmerpost member: “yeah sure, do you want them sorted by date? Angle? Lighting? Indoors? Outdoors?”

We’re a funny bunch but there’s worse hobbies to have!
