All this before 25k miles!

and in case you missed it, here is the new clutch pre-install.

ill do a quick writeup tomorrow or friday. but for now, admire the pics!

I still say that the Spec Clutch Flywheel combo is a beast!!!!! I see you were at the ramstein Craft Shop. I like that one better than the one on the lower part of Pulaski.

Are you gonna post your impressions here or doing a separate thread for that?

Very nice! How long(hrs) did it all take you? The clutch wore out most likely bc of the high HP levels your car is pushing - not from use I suspect.

I don't know how you removed the clutch slave cylinder bolts. I remember looking at them when I did my CDV-delete and thinking to myself that upper bolt would be a bear when doing the clutch!

clutch is pretty stiff. it took about 14 hours for the install total. i could do it in about half the time if i did it again though.

for the top slave cylinder bolts, i used a bunch of extensions and a swivel, and had the ratchet behind the transmission cross member.

one of the starter bolts, and the very top bell housing bolts were a bear to get to. i had to pull the intake and all that to get to them. they wouldn't be so bad with ratcheting wrenches, but i didn't have any.

I'll update this thread tomorrow, l'm going snowboarding today.

The clutch is a good bit stiffer than stock, but honestly, not as bad as i expected. The engagement point is pretty small, its a lot more on/off than the stock clutch, but its really only an issue when driving really slow (pulling into a parking spot, going over speed bumps, etc...)

The gears do make a good bit of noise when the engine is at idle, and the clutch is engaged (pedal not pushed it). It goes away if you push in the clutch, or raise the engine above 1k rpm. This is to be expected with swapping the stock flywheel to lightweight single mass flywheel. Its the flywheel not the clutch, just so everyone is clear. Here is a video showing the chatter mine doesn't seem as loud as his, but i also have a louder exhaust, so that may be covering it up some.

I still have an exhaust leak from the install, so this next problem could be attributed to that, but when im cruising on the freeway, and i completely let off the throttle, there is a very very low frequency vibration, its not bad, it feels like driving on the rumble strips on the side's of highways (the things that are supposed to wake up sleeping drivers before they plow off the road), but not nearly as severe. I've noticed it, some passengers haven't. ymmv.

The clutch is still in its break-in period, so i'll update this thread again once i am able to be a little rough on it.

My check engine light is also on, not sure what it could be, as i only disconnected 3 sensors iirc, the 02 sensors, and the speed sensor on the tail of the transmission. I'll get around to checking it, but im bumming it on the couch with ice on my knee today.

I got my clutch off amazon. lol. cheaper than specs website, and shipped to APO. it got here in about a month. i ordered the other replacement parts through dan@united.

Where are you stationed? I dont know where illesheim is.

Ezeedeee - Illesheim is near Rotherburg o.d. Tauber or just 50k's South of Wurzburg. Just off the A7 autobahn about half way between the A3 and A6 autobahns crossings.

Its a tiny little base, you could easily drive by it and not even know, but their craftshop is pretty decent. I think I am gonna go for the HPF clutch, thats seems to have really good reviews.

if the only thing i have to replace in the next 25k miles is my u-joints, ill be a happy camper.

its the hobby shop on ramstein, i did it myself.
