Does anyone have experience swapping trim parts between pre-LCI M550 and other models? Specifically, I'm asking about the grilles, finishing moldings (bumper), air ducts (fenders/wings).

My car is a 2018 540i XDrive MSport in Bluestone Metallic and it has glossy black trim. I'm not in love with the look; the contrast is too strong for my taste.

I'm toying with the idea of swapping to the Cerium Gray trim from the M550 because I think it would look sharp with the Bluestone.

So, I'm curious whether the trim parts are interchangeable between the two models? Has anyone done this?

p.s. I realize the grille swap may depend on a specific option. Option 6UK - Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection uses a different part number for one of the grilles. My car does not have option 6UK.

I would think they would be swappable but I don't know. On nightvision, the reason it is separate is that the nightwision camera is installed as part of the grille.

All are interchangeable as long as you pick up the pre LCI parts. You can buy off ebay. Specially the grill, Lots of people changed theirs to kidney black and are selling them.
All you're changing is the front grill, front and side air breathers and mirror caps.
Night vision is in the middle and it's not part of the grill; pre LCI grill is two pieces.
Mine is blue stone metallic too. I had chrome trims and ended up changing everything to shadowline; window trims, front grill along with mirror caps. I had the chance to compare mine with a m550i bluestone metallic and personally like the contrast with black better than blending everything in. I only kept the side air breathers in chrome to match my wheels.

Thanks for sharing your pursuit of trim color perfection. I too have the shadowline window trims with other trims in black. The look does have its visual charm.

My car is only a month old to me. I probably need to give it time to grow on me before making changes.

Maybe I just focus on blackening the exhaust tips and door handle trims to eliminate the shiny silver stuff, so everything matches.

Love the look of the cerium gray. However, the last time I looked the cerium gray trim pieces were NLA. I would like to buy a driver's side wheel arch vent piece as one of the tabs is looser than I'd like on mine.
