I’m getting my first oil change for a 2019 M550i, have driven it about 5300 miles, and I was wondering if it mattered what oil I use. Or can it be any brand as long as it is 0W-30.

It says: BMW Longlife-01 FE and SAE 0W-30. But that means only genuine BMW oil then, right?

Any oil that meets those requirements should be fine. I just let my dealer do it as it costs me only about $25 net for them to do it. I also don't have to deal with the used oil, that's worth the $25 to me.

I use 0W-30 European Formula by Amsoil which meets the BMW oil designation requirement.

I’m at 1 month with 900 miles. I wish I could drive the car that many miles after 4 years…
