forza1976's mod is highly recommended.
The unbridled sound is prefect and better represents the beast lurking in the M550. Compared to the stock piped in artificial sound and the half capped flap, it has a nice growl without being too aggressive.

No, but this keeps them open in all modes. Basically Sport exhaust in all drive settings.

In the trunk. Right side wall, remove felt cover. Use map in post above to locate the right fuse.

Good day all. Great sound improvement with flaps open. I have followed instructions in first post thanks.
Problem I have is every month or so it starts to rattle as the zip ties come loose. I've had to re-zip tie so many times I'm an expert at it but for some reason one or the other always comes loose and makes the most ANNOYING and embarrassing rattling noise. I'd like to try the method of pulling the fuse but for some reason I cannot get these metal clips back into place as they were when stock. The 2 pieces/grooves that the clip connects simply don't line up for me to squeeze the clip and put it back into place. They are at 90 degree angle to each other. Impossible to put clip in unless the grooves are parallel. Doesn't help that I don't have a picture of how it looked like stock maybe I'm putting the clip back in the wrong orientation? Anyone have a pic? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Would love to put clips back as stock and go with the fuse method instead. Thank you. |

use a metal strap like a pipe clamp, plastic definitely isn't perfect for this.

It is just enough growl to be heard, but not enough to attract unwanted attention or drone at cruising speed.

M550 Fuse Pull
I pulled Fuse #203, to be honest I haven't noticed a big difference, I can hear a deeper tone at idle or low revs, but in daily driving not much louder than stock at all. Is this the same for anyone else who's tried this?

Unless you pulled the fuse while in Sport Mode, it won't take. If you had done it, you would notice. Make sure the car is set to Sport mode, then pull the fuse.

1. How do I know if the flaps are fully open? (Just by the sound?) 2. Should I do this on a fully cold start? |

2. The car has to be put in Sport Mode, then while still running, get out of the car and pull the fuse.
