You are right on AUX and HUD. But it is not possible to get Android Auto on ID6. MMI is the only way or move to car play which is available on ID6 if you have all the HW for it from factory

Found the problem - I switched out the 3.5mm to usb adapter from the first MMI box that I had and the volume now works perfectly.

I have been using it wit the different adapter for over a week and the volume hasn't acted up again at all.

Makes sense. I have aux enabled through coding and don't use the cable or adapter. Never faced this problem

Agreed, but I don't have HUD so no issue for me. As for the track selections, you're correct that the track selection does not work from steering wheel for this Android Auto via Aux. I use the dial on center console as my right hand is almost always there. I think it's a minor inconvenience that I'm 100% dealing with in order to have Android Auto 🤣

Hi, what system do you have? I have Entrynav2 ID6 and use aux/usb. I don't know if this will work for me.

If anyone can post photos of a "glove box install" on a G30/31 it would be greatly appreciated!

Hooked my droiduk box up a few days ago to test then realised I had to code AUX to get everything working properly. Currently awaiting delivery of cables to code AUX before proceeding again with installation.

I have mmi andrem on entrynav2, everything worked fine, but I would like to change the place for mmi.
I would also like to ask for advice on how to place the MMI in the glove box or near it so that I have faster access to it. I know that I need to buy a longer LVDS cable, but I don't know how to get from the HU to the glove box or even under the glove box. I didn't see any hole through which the cables would fit. Maybe you need to disassemble this glove box?

I'm not sure I understand the question, but you can still listen to music from the USB. My car has 2 usb ports, one has the output from the carplay box and the other has a regular USB with music on it.

Can you listen radio, or listen music from one of the car usb ports, while your android auto is on screen, waze for example?

I heard that HUD is unavailable if you install MMI. Even if you are in bmw idrive system, you can't have HUD anymore.. Is this true?

I ultimately gave up. I even tried an iphone for a day which worked great, except for iphone part.

I tried 2 of the usb plug in boxes and those worked "better" but not very well.

I am still considering a complete android display replacement.
I have the same problem with the lvds cable. Has anyone managed to solve this?

Can anyone confirm this? I know that HID won’t work with CarPlay, but do I lose HUD even when using the built in nav? Just don’t want to impact car value by making HUD no longer work.

I was under the impression from the Bimmertech guys that you can still change tracks via steering wheel, you just wont see track name on the HUD. Can anyone confirm?

Any info on steering wheel controls? BimmerTech said you can skip tracks, can anyone try this?

Also, how is the sound quality since you are using AUX? juliusedward How does iDrive go into AUX and is the quality of sound as good as BT?

Just installed an MMI in my 2018 G31, on my second attempt. First time I realized that the LCVD cable from headunit to screen could not be removed as it was snugged behind the dashboard.. I then got another LCVD cable and just let the old one be. I was able to route the cables out below the glovebox, and have the MMI just laying on top of the passanger footpanel for easy access.

I also coded the AUX, and it works! However.. It seems the audio volume from fx. playing Spotify is lower than the normal. Like I have to turn the volume all the way up in the MMIs own settings, as well as in ID6, but then trying to use Google assistant almost blasts my eardrums..

Mrdooley, juliusedward any of you guys have issues with the different volume levels?

Did you just order the OEM part (61116832082 or 61116991466) for the cable? Or somewhere else?

I got the same problem with my G31 of 2018. What a drama the entire installation.

Thanks

Do you use aftermarket reversing camera for mmi box? Does it need to be connected to the reverse light?
