I recall posts in the past about recorders that use the built-in BMW cameras to provide a dash cam capability. It may have been a BMW after-sale accessory. Does anyone have any info on this for the new 2020 5-series?

Yeah, you're right as I don't see anything related to Drive Recorder in my 2020 530e and I don't see the option listed for sale either (it is a paid option on the MY2020 3 series).

The iDrive 7 is very lite in the 2020 G30 and I really need to spend some time typing up my observations.

For instance, in addition to this Drive Recorder functionality I also don't see anything related to Connected Command. Although I got an email from BMW saying this is in iDrive 7 vehicles that doesn't appear to apply to the iDrive 7 G30?

Either that or my car is mis-provisioned in some way... As I also can't do Remote 3D view via the app even though I have the surround view cameras and automatic parking.

On remote 3D view maybe call bmw genius, that work even on iDrive 6

I called them and they suggested I take it into the dealer which I thought was odd. But I will take it in when I get some time.

Prob not.
Only ever saw it offered in the 8, X7 and 7. Check the ordering guides to confirm 6DR availability , usually pinned at the top of the sub forums for the car you are studying.
The IQ is not great yet anyway but it's better than nothing. All my cars have dash cams, front and back. It's a must.
