Reset rear brake pad warning

I just replaced the rear pads on my 18 M550i AND the brake wear sensor. However, when I try to reset the warning from the dash it always says reset unsuccessful but available. I have tried with the parking brake on and off. I even swapped in another senor I had that I left the end in a bag to make sure it was not tripped, but still no luck. Any suggestions? I also noticed that there was still a very good amount of brake pad left even though the computer said it needed to be replaced. I did not see anything on the old wear sensor looking like it had been tripped but since they are so cheap I swapped them out. I am actually surprised the wear sensor even tripped or if it does that by default when the mileage for replacement is hit.

Thanks in advance.

This is from the TIS:

A CBS reset in the vehicle is possible in the event of a partially ground down brake pad wear sensor. The CBS display in the Central Information Display (CID) is active.
In the event of a brake pad wear sensor that is not partially ground down, a CBS reset is only possible with the diagnostic system. No CBS display in the Central Information Display (CID).
