Stainless Steel Brake Line

Thoughts and Recommendations? About time to change my brakes and rotors and wanted to know if this would be a needed upgrade.

Thank you in advance.

Probably won't notice it too much, but if you do get ones covered in PVC to make the braided lines last longer.

It does feel that it firms up the pedal feel a bit more, but it might be all just imaginary I personally like Goodrich SS lines quite a bit as the nuts on both ends can swivel without rotating the line.

Absolutely not "needed" IMO. I have cars with and without them. Spend the money elsewhere.

FWIW, there is also the added peace of mind knowing you'd have some greater protection from an inopportune shard of road debris making its way in there and preventing you from quickly decelerating from 140 to make that turn

I debated doing lines for the first year of my car. Installed a bimmerworld set when I ran Sonoma last November.
As others have stated. There is not much difference.
The pedal is firmer but it is in the low 5% difference. Negligible. Even after 20 minute sessions I could barely tell the difference from the oem lines.

I was back and forth on installing SS lines as well. Decided to install Turner Performance SS lines as I was already installing Ferodo DS2500 Pads F/R and flushing the Brake Fluid to Motul RBF 600.

As others have stated, it's not needed but doesn't hurt, the rear lines are less than a foot long, to each their own

Not really needed since bmw has hard brake lines. My daily on the other hand has rubber lines and SS made a huge difference.

How are those Ferodos? I've been thinking of getting them.

I personally haven't seen a difference in pedal feel due to SS lines. But, I did notice a difference in pedal feel due to new track pads and fresh SRF. I added SS lines just for my peace of mind. Not "required" IMO.

I haven't had an opportunity to get them up to temp. I went with these as they were highly recommended for street/"spirited" driving weekends and easy to swap to DS1.11 upfront with the DS2500 rear combo for the track.

Presently in TX and I'll be moving back to SoCal shortly. I'll post up a review regarding the Ferodo DS2500 and hopefully, a follow up shortly after with DS1.11 after a track day.

I've tracked with DS2500s F/R, DS1.11 F DS2500 rear, and DS1.11 F/R. DS1.11 are night and day compared to the 2500s, even when cold, and don't seem to ever fade. I used D2500s only during a day at ACS in SoCal and felt them start fading into turn 3, which is about 130 to 40, after about 3-4 laps. The 2500s also feel "mushier" vs the 1.11s which personally wasn't as confidence inspiring too.

So true! I have the F10 M5 Brake calipers on the front with Brypar J hook discs and the difference between the DS2500s and DS1.11 is definitely night and day even when cold. The bite on the DS1.11 is insane but they do squeal when they are not hot. The DS2500s definitely has poorer brake feel than the DS1.11s as well

On my E39 the improvement in brake modulation was very noticeable, huge in fact. On my M3 the improvement wasn’t as dramatic. I had the M3 calipers off to be powder coated, so why not replace the brake lines.

If you'll be at the track regularly: yes.

Otherwise, waste of money.

Why did you bump a thread that’s 3+ years old? SS braided rubber brake lines make little difference in brake pedal firmness or feel/modulation on the f8x. Their main purpose is to increase their durability when you have an unanticipated off track excursion.
