Maintenance Recommendations Used G30 Pre-LCI Purchase
Hey guys. Kind of a lurker here. After many searching I found a Pre-LCI G30 I will be picking up next week and I was wondering if there are any mechanical recommendations you guys recommend?
It’s mileage is about to hit 20,000 and is 2019. I assume all of you guys are going to say oil change at least (duh). It is not being bought at a BMW dealership so I guess it’s not CPO certified. Clean title. One owner. No accident report from CarFax and it was a leased vehicle which I assume was turned in early. What is y’all’s maintenance recommendations? I assume I also have about 10 months left in original BMW warranty when I pick it up. Many thanks and I hope to join the Bimmer club soon! |

I just follow the recommended schedule. The car will display when the service is due when you start up. It will also show up on your connected drive logon both website and app. ( you have set this up?)
Other here as you say will recommend additional oil changes Other than that , that's it in my opinion Treat it with some mechanical sympathy and it should be fine. Ie when cold drive moderately until the car has warmed up before giving it the beans! Worth keeping an eye out for coolant leaks , quite common (had it myself and my case was the reservoirs which had to be replaced under warranty. Don't accept any excuses from dealers saying it's normal, it's not) |

Also I’ll be picking up the car next week so I haven’t had the connected drive setup yet. |

Yes. I don't know your age, but when Mobil1 first came out, they recommended a 25K mile interval because it was/is fully synthetic. On my last car I changed the oil every 12K to 15K miles with Mobil1 and had no issues (sold the car with about 115K miles). Use whatever interval that makes you comfortable.

Oil change interval seems to be based upon country.
Ie I believe in the US it's every 10000mikes or per year ( or something like that) In the uk it's about 19000 miles or every 2 years These times may be less based upon driving style Now whether Bmw use a different oil I different markets I don't know |

Interesting. I was going to change every 5K miles (I’m in Us) because I’ve heard in the past that BMW maintenance program used to push synthetics to 15k-20k back then but I heard it caused problems. Now it’s just 10k unless if the CBS triggers the maintenance is from what I understand. Interesting.
I also notice that my instrument cluster is a hybrid. It has a chrome ring but then also has a fixated thicker chrome rings as well (not my design preference). I would have preferred the normal chrome rings instead. Maybe I’ll post pictures later to explain what I’m saying. |

I have mine changed every 4-5k miles and every other change I do a ceratec flush. Overkill? Maybe, but you can't do any damage by changing your oil too much.

Don't know much about Ceratek...
From your use of the word "flush," I assume it is a product that one introduces into the oil for a limited time prior to the oil change. Is that a good guess?

https://products.liqui-moly.com/pro-...e-flush-1.html And Ceratec every other. https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/us/pre...-tec-3477.html Wish I could be more helpful on the process for the flush is. He add certatec every other change. Another reason I don't change my own oil. Ceratec adds like $50 bucks.
