HK may possibly be one of the worst "luxury" systems there is. And as explained, it's also made in China.

If anything, worst case scenario is that this is on par with HK, but it looks much nicer. Only thing holding me back is voiding the warranty.

I agree with you but so far I'm impressed with the quality of the product. That's the only reason why I'm sharing my experiences here. I took a chance and purchased the entire setup. If I wasn't happy with the results, I wouldn't be posting it. I would actually say what I'm not happy with. We have hot summers and cold winters in Canada. So if anything, it has more chances of it failing. Only time will tell how the quality is.

So far all the parts that I replaced on my car look, feel and sound better. All the original speakers that came out of my car the HK ones were marked made in china. If they were made in Germany or even Canada I would be proud lol

Chinese replicas are getting very good. The only questionable thing is long term reliability… i wonder how close they sound to the real deal.

Did you replace the dash center channel grille? If so is the replacement metal or plastic? Difficulty in replacing?

For comparisons sake, when I had just one of the B&W mid range speakers replaced under warranty the list price on the part was $400+.

I replaced the center dash speakers and the grille. The outside grille is metal but attached to another plastic grille with clips that clip into the dashboard. It took me 30-45 minutes to replace. It wasn't hard.

Great post. Funny what the difference is when ordering to europe. As I added all from that set, it shows my cart at whooping 1646 EUR! I thought the OEM BW has a different amp, isn't that the case?

It does have a different amp. I did a quick search on ebay. There's an entire set for sale.

BMW sells a lot of cars in China that are manufactured in China via its BMW Brilliance joint venture. I wouldn’t be surprised if these are OEM parts made for that market. Either harvested from cars or pulled from ones BMW has decided not to accept.

If memory serves me the China G30 is manufactured 100% in China.

Knockoffs are getting better because more often than not they are made by the same supplier…

Yes, if the can replicate watches that are made exclusively in swiss. replicating speakers is a childplay for them (especially when BMW has production line in china)

Hate to break it to the nay sayers....B&W has manufacturing in China and they do make speakers there. I wouldn't be surprised if these were the real deal. They make more money selling to the people like the OP than B&W to resell...cutting out the middle man. China has no problem doing that. I think you'll do just fine long term with these Norris83...Unfortunately, everything is made in China now.

@Norris83 I think I'm going to take the plunge on these. I want to start off with only the speakers that have ambient lighting. For sure the front tweeters and mid light up and the rear door mids light up. Do the rear shelf and center dash speakers light up at all?

If you're doing it only for the ambient lighting, than you only really need the full front door speakers with the grills and the rear door mids with the grills.

RonronEG, check out this install video for the Bavsound package. The center channel section starts at 54:21. The main challenge is the first step, prying off the side panel.

One difference I noted with my 2020 is that the speaker bracket is attached to the dashboard with some tape around its edge so it has to be carefully pried off after removing the screws. I reused the same tape when I reinstalled it and have had no issues. I think that they recently added the tape to fix the snap-crackle-pop.
