Bumper plug updates

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Guys, the paint didn't last 6 months here on my plugs. Any advice on how I can get the paint to stick? Perhaps when I got it detailed or when I used the pressure washer. I figured it would last longer. Materials used in attached.

did you sand the plug prior to primer?
how many coats of paint? did you do clear-coat as top coat, how many coats of that?

Where did you get the plugs?

Lowe's. I didn't sand them, but I recently redid them. I sanded prior, 2 coats primer, 4 coats of paint, 4 coats of clear. All very thin coats. I think it was the pressure washer, they held up pretty well before that. Regardless I'll take some tips as they are still drying. I used factory touch up paint, bottles are very small. If I have to redo again, I'd probably do a spray option that's cheaper.

Thanks for the Lowe's tip. Will go see, perhaps they have those in white.

Keep me posted. Perhaps Home Depot, but they never have them near me anymore.

I had 6 holes under my plate that were drilled when I took it off. These are larger than what I have but may work. All depends on how much you want to spend and how much you want to put in. I just had a hard time with the paint sticking. Like I said, most likely my pressure washer.

I use round cabinet bumpers with adhesive backs. Bought a sheet of black in various sizes and use the smallest ones that cover hole. Use med blue touch up paint. Much less obtrusive than plugs IMO

Smallest for top holes. Next size up for bottom holes in order to cover the holes in xpel. Yes, xpel installer poked holes through film after installing. Genius..

I have a ton of plugs but none fit as flush to bumper as these adhesive pads
