E-Class is garbage.....absolutely no presence on the road, at all (meaning non-AMG models). Every time I see a new one it looks so boring.
It's bad enough you can't tell the difference between the E and C.....but in general it's just not aggressive looking, at all.

Not a fan of the current iteration. Only MB fanboys would pick it over a G30 5-Series and taxi cab drivers. I don't like Mercedes sedans with rounded rear ends. Reminds me of Korean "Luxury" cars from the 1990s and early 2000s. Kia Amati anyone?

I completely agree, I have a really hard time telling if a car is an e class or c class until I can see the badge on the trunk. IMO, the only car they make with real presence is the S Class.

To me the S, E and C, all have too similar looks, in particular the rear ends. From a distance, it is hard to tell the difference.

And since the new M3 will be available with a manual and that’s gone from the 5, I’ll be “downgrading” to the 3 series when my lease is up |

Set in both E450 and 540 would say E450 had a more luxury yacht feel to it, my wife loves it though glad she defer the final decision to me otherwise I would probably end up with E450 instead 540

Rode a current gen E Class taxi in Copenhagen last August and the car looked and felt cheap. It remind me of a Ford Crown Victoria. Opening and closing the doors reminded me of a Dodge Intrepid from the 1990s. Just horrendous. Not impressed with the cabin or rear seat room. That car had nothing on the G30, worlds apart cabin quality and finishing. The year before I took a W212 cab station wagon in Germany and that vehicle looked and felt more like a MB should. This new E Class is junk (in despite to the BS Car and Driver wants to fed us about the E Class being a better car than the 5-Series).

Demanding, yes. We test drove an E300 earlier this year. My wife usually prefers MB. This one was thoroughly unimpressive. I have to assume that the E400 would be better, but comparing the MB 4 cylinder to the BMW 4 cylinder, the MB is feeble.

Funny that Car and Driver 10 best only recommends E450 and E63 AMG.

In terms of rear leg room, without going to S class/7 series, the only one that seriously has longer leg room then anyone else in same ish segment is Volvo S90, though I have to say the Volvo interior feels "cheap"... it's a clean IKEA look (which is fine), but the material feels only ok. |

E450 has more hp, though honestly I can't tell during test drive vs. 540... though the steering/ride is definitely undoubtedly "Mercedes"
