This car is much quicker than any of the previous 5-series and only looks up to the F90 M5 -- as it should be. One owner has documented 0-60 in 3.47 with a BMS Stage 1. A simple $400 tune has propelled a solid luxury executive vehicle to a rocket with AWD. No, it's not the F90 M5 but I don't think that was ever the plan.
I own the M550i with BMS Stage 1 but I'm not the one who posted the 3.47. Having said that this car is by far quicker than any of my previous cars including my C63S, M4, M3, and Dinan Stage 2 550i. You can't underestimate what the xDrive has done to this car. I could never put the power down in my previous cars so quickness came with a bit of wheel spin, especially the 600+ tq C63S. In addition, the G30 config dropped about 100lbs since the F10. My butt dyno says the stock car was fast off the line but the new tune has placed it on another level.

As was mentioned this car is pointless now that we have the M5 and M5 comp pack for the same money.

Huh?
Full Mocha Nappa leather, leather dash (except lower area and console), alcantera headliner. Maybe a half step down from a true full leather interior but certainly doesn't look and feel cheap. And BTW, apparently the F90 isn't "full" leather with some non-leather areas.

M5 interior is way better than this base model looking interior. The 550 has always had base model looks to set the m5 apart from it.

It needs to be taken into consideration that even though the MSRP is similar, these cars lease totally different. Which is what most US owners will do.

A lease on an M5 right now with 10k miles yearly is around 1500-1600.

M550i is sub < 1k usually.

I'd love to see anyone get an M5 remotely close to these numbers.

Idk... some might compare a a M550i and M5 and not see a 20-25K difference, which is precisely what BMW is counting on.

The point is that lease more like 35% in price difference. Which is what people likely end up doing more commonly than buying with cash. 900 vs. 1600. You tell me if that's a big difference or not.

Once you start adding wheels, tune, exhaust, body kits you are cutting into that 22K difference FAST. In reality a modded up m550 will be within 10-12K difference of how I would spec my M5. Maybe I'm getting old but I rather have a "stock" M5 over a fully modified M550.
What he said.

Also, if anyone ever paid 6500 for those wheels in that video they deserve a nice slap in the face. Not horrible looking, but that price is absurd for what you're getting.

M5 is on a whole other level with drift mode. You could code the drift mode but it does not come with it standard and can't be switched on while driving. Also the interior is way better with the better transmission and m1 and m2 buttons. The ZF transmission is better calibrated nd the lever looks better. Not possible to spec a 550 like an M5. Not the same car even with the Dinan tune. Stock exhaust isn't the same.

I think that m550 had Dinan Full Exhaust as well.

But I hear ya.

I have watched about 10 vidios's that Matt has put out.Usually he is pretty vanilla on his dislikes, but this one he really voiced his dislike of the car.

Farah tries to be nice about everything he reviews. Not this time he couldn't contain his disappointment in this bland shit box.
