USB is not old activation, USB is possible on any ilevel below 18-11.
ENET is required to use on ilevel 18-11 and above.
Yes it is the old way, because when activating with USB, dealer/ISTA may have trouble flashing your car. The patch applied to the HU to accept patched FSC codes is not the same when activating over upd. Bin file thus being the "old" way. Especially when done with HU Tool 2.6.

When using an enet activation dealer or anyone else with ISTA will have no trouble in flashing the car (TAL Calculations).

No man, sorry you have no idea how this works.
It doesn’t make any difference how is it applied.
ENET activations gives you possible to restore to OEM - FSC are stored on cloud server.

Usb patch is picked up by the dealer and they won’t flash it till you pay for new codes.

I had to pay £440 to get the fsc codes.

Not sure if enet method is detectable or not

You can always restore to OEM using ENET method.
Never ever happend to my customers that someone had to pay something to the dealer

To confirm, if I have NBTevo_N ... it can be activated by USB and the best way to get it is to go order it from bimmer-remote.com (i.e. not through whatsapp, etc)?

I did the USB carplay activation about a year ago.

I went to get an oil change recently, dealer decided to update my software. Navi stopped working. Cost me 340 euros to have it fixed with dealer. They had to get codes from Germany.

Moral of the story - always revert back to OEM before going into the dealership for anything. Even if you are going to drink coffee there.

That is always a risk and good to put it out there.

Would be easier to fix it aftermarket than paying dealer silly prices

Your vendor should have given you a ENET Solution code to re-enable Carplay after dealer update.

We provide Backup Codes with every Order, so you can simply re-enable after dealer visit . I thought that was the standard?

Seems the popular Carplay seller here doesn't provide that.

Yikes!

Don’t worry about us. Every our customer gets backup with ENET solution and possibility to use it after dealer visit. He probably used other vendor.

Sometimes the cheapest solution turns out most expensive. But there is allways a risk something can go worng no matter which seller/vendor or method.

I recommend this guy and his service. Previous owner did something with my unit and I couldn't activate Apple CarPlay which I've purchased from kubax86. He offered to give me discount on full-flash my unit + activation. Everything went smooth and all my questions were answered :-)
