Exclamation Can we deactivate the Dimming of DRLs on G30?(Yellow colored LED/Discoloration Problm

Greetings,

I own a 2017 G30 with adaptive LED headlights. Right side inner daytime running light lights in a yellowish color as seen in the photo. It lights in the correct color (white) when headlights are on. But when only in DRL mode these lights dims a bit and this faulty one turns into yellow.

Service/Dealer said that whole headlight unit should be changed and it can not be repaired. It's cost is more than a monthly salary (even with a 70% discount because of goodwill since all maintenance are made on dealer on time and it's not a user related problem) so I don't want to replace the whole unit for a park light with a single LED.

Since DRL LED lights in white color without any problems at full brightness (as in low beams), I would like to increase the brightness of DRL LEDs (or deactivate the dimming functionality in DRL mode). In F series it can be coded but I couldn't find a brightness coding for G30. I'll really appreciate your help on the issue.

Thanks in advance,

It should be a warranty item. Are you outside of the four year OEM warranty?

It is 2 years +1 year for the regular customers in Turkey and it ended at the beginning of this month

You are out of warranty for a day? Or even just a month if you meant November and BMW is saying no? I’d give BMW CS a call in Turkey as that’s pretty shitty service. Legally they are right, but it doesn’t get you customers penny pinching that hard.

There does seem to be a related TSB on this: TSB #B630418, April 1,2020.

Yeah I found that. But the burn on the light tube is so minimal and it doesn't effect the color of the light when it's in full brightness.

So only cost-free solution is to code the angel eyes to light on full brightness at all times. Does anyone knows how to do it on FLM module?

You can change the DRL LED driver by it self without changing the whole headlight.

BMW Part number is:

LED module, daytime driving lights, left
63117214939

LED module, daytime driving lights,right
63117214940

Price is about 100 Euros for each side.

Good Luck

Yeah thanks. But LED also burned the headlights light tube but the burn is so small. If LED's are at 100% brightness light distributed is in white color. So even if I replace the module, I have to code the daytime lights to be lit on 100% brightness at all times

Bimmer app has this function to code the angel eyes to light always on 100% brightness but it doesn't work on Android version and they still didn't upgrade it to include this function

If anyone can try it with apple phone and sent me the code it changed, I can code it with Esys
