Engine noise

I'm having a hard time getting a definitive answer from google searches. I have been under the assumption that the engine noise I hear in my 2018 540i is artificial. Can someone confirm that? If so, is it easy to turn off?

The engine noise is not fake in the 2018 540i. It doesn't have the ASD module. The 2018 m550 has the fake sound that can be coded out.

Well that's nice to hear. I love the sound, I just assumed it was fake. Like a "too good to be true" kind of thing.

I am one of the few that like Active Sound Design. The car is so insulated, you can't hear much unless the windows are down. It's a pretty good fake.

2021 gets the option to turn off via idrive
