in the G30 the difference in numbers - HK has more speakers at the rear, same number at the front. HK has more power at max volume, Hifi will be distorted near max volume. HK has surround sound processing. (although Hifi doesn't say anything about surround sound, it does surround sound processing - i covered up the center speaker and the vocals were missing from the side speakers - they put the instruments in the side and reduced the vocals and channelled vocals to the center in the Hifi. So it must be processed.

In the G20 (3 series) HK and Hifi use the same actual speakers

It is possible in the G30 they could also do that and be using the same speakers ... but maybe not being more luxury, i can't confirm either way ... mine has B&W - that is a different league!
Salesperson mentioned the difference was just surround sound but he didn’t know the ins and outs of it.

Granted the difference btw hifi and HK is prob beyond most. But in general you cant count on CAs for much. The majority of CAs I’ve dealt with recently were not even aware of the x5 LCI even when the 2024 were in production!!… one even went as far to tell me that the 2024 x5 will be essentially unchanged from 2023. I laughed out loud when he said this.. I made the incorrect assumption the CAs are actually passionate about cars/bmws, sadly most are not.

Lol! They are some exceptions but you’re right, most are just there to sell you a vehicle.

I think “glass controls” is a X series thing and maybe 7 series. For the 5 it is/was “ceramic controls” and all it is is a shiny black idrive knob instead of a matte black one. And the Executive package is about $3k (I checked because you got me curious).

Premium package includes HK, HUD, remote start, power tailgate, heated seats.

Yea the glass controls is deff an X thing but it starts at the x5 and up because it wasn’t an option for the X3. I do remember seeing that glass control when I built one online out of curiosity. Yea, $5k is for the X5 executive package. Aaaw yes, my car is missing the HK and HUD. Am I the only one that doesn’t like the HUD? I find it annoying and had it turned off on my last x3. Gestures too lol

I like the HUD a lot. Never use the gesture control.

I get they’re probably trying to incentivize the luxury seekers/higher spenders to the X5/5 series and X7/7 series. But I really think they should offer the option to pay up for better upholstery and maybe multi contour seats in the X3/3 series. They’re going to be smaller and they’re going to ride harder/tighter relative the the big brothers. There’s a clear difference. I don’t see any reason not to offer some high dollar individual merino leather option and maybe an individual trim option. Just offer it in the M340 even. Give some avenue for a “high end” feeling in a 3 series without having to go full M3. I like the M3 but it seems like it would be a pain to daily drive.

Must be a BMW NA decision, BMW do build G20 for other markets with higher grade leather options, see this example that was for sale down under…

Doesn’t surprise me. I’m sure it’s a matter of BMWNA thinking “if they want to pay for luxury in a 3 series, they can surely afford a 5 series. So let’s make them buy a 5 series.”

Respect ‘your’ opinion here but it doesn’t work that way.

You get 3 free payments pretty much since the residual doesn’t change for 36 month va 39 months. If you understand the nitty gritty of the lease math, even a full extra year of registration is less than the savings due to 39 month lease vs 36 months lease.

BMWFS allows 2 months lease extension no questions asked, so you can pretty much ‘use’ 5 months of your registration paid. I think I said this before in the thread correcting your earlier comments but here it is again, something to calculate.

BTW Could you also share some statistics/data when you say nobody does it? 39 months is a rather new period for leases, has not been common before.

So per my no one here does it nobody I know in California does so. Most common are 24 or 36 month leases. Generally, people I know would rather put the extra payments + registration towards a replacement vehicle at the end of the lease as the monthly reduction isn't much in our experience but that can vary on other factors.

Given an option of 0.00145 MF for 36 months vs 0.00125 for 39 months at same residual, how does the math -not- work out? You are buying/leasing today vs. trying to put those payments towards a new car.

The fundamental issue with your logic here is that it seems based on your assessment that those payments are ‘extra’, but they are not.

And huge difference between onsie twosie you know who don’t like to lease for 39 months vs nobody.

The point I was trying to make is 39 months lease was rarely an option presented to the buyer by FS in the past so your point is moot that people choose not to select 39 over 36 months (key point is IF the residual is exactly the same).

Again I encourage you to use a lease calculator to really compare the numbers, it’s not extra payments (they are smaller $ amount each, even if 39 vs 36).
