My 550 has about 82K miles now. I'm starting to wonder about stuff I should replace as the mileage creeps up. Has anyone replaced their fuel filter(s) yet? Any idea where they might be located (accessible or not)? Thanks!

No idea on location...on my E39 its under the drivers side.
But you are on the right track...I generally have the fuel filter replaced around 90k to 100k. I have been told they can go longer, but if the filter has a lot of restriction, it can stress the fuel pump. I know I got over 200k miles on my fuel pump on my E39...I'm at 357k now.

There is no replaceable fuel filter. There is a "filter" integral to the in tank fuel pump.

I hate that design philosophy. So if you are into preventive maintenance, now you incur the cost of a fuel pump, to get the new filter. Or you wait until you are disabled with a clogged up filter, or failed pump or both.
