Remote start, pre cool/heat on 530e?

Does iPerformance model support turning on AC or heat remotely by app? Remote start? Or just electric motor?

Yeah. Similar to other BMW plug-in-hybrids, you activate "preconditioning" and the car figures out what it needs to do to get the cabin temperature just right. It has electric heater and a/c. Preconditioning uses the main drive battery, so you need to have some energy left in there.

U mean Max AC as well? Equal to press Max AC button on centre console?

Yeah, the car will cool / heat itself to reach the desired cabin temperature. You can activate preconditioning using the key, connected app and connected drive web page. You can also schedule what time you will be leaving and the car will do the tricks automatically. Really just wonderful. Its cool in summer and warm in winter.

Hybrid Powertrain is the only reason I still consider BMW now. Lol, otherwise, E class and upcoming A6 are a lot better in this segment.

for me it's price. the 5 series is on a fire sale as of late, at least in the US. i got around $9,000 off my 540i, plus the free oil changes. if BMW wasn't discounting these like crazy or if Mercedes would match the pricing, i would have never even set a foot in a BMW dealership.

my top choices for a new car were E43 and Audi S5 sportback. wasn't even considering the 5 until the final price came into play.

BMW's rwd advantage is one of the biggest selling point for me. But stupid fuck BMW Canada doesn't even provide a Rwd option for 5 series. Therefore 5 is no different than audi or Mercedes-Benz in term of driving dynamics, which is the best thing about Bmw. Lol

Is the Connected App working in Canada for the iPerformance 530e/330e?

I've read in some other threads that the Canadian BMW Connected App has limited functionality but am wondering if the iPerformance App is better? If so, does it work off of the VIN# or other?

Also I've read there is an BNW Connected enhancement coming to Canada Q2 2018. Anybody have more information on that?

Thanks.

Hi guys,
I have a 2018 M550i
I can pre condition the cabin using my remote app but am unable to select a temperature.
It seems like the preconditioning is actually just a cabin ventilation.
Not very useful actually.

Yes, correct. You don’t have a 530e. It’s a different deal for BMW plug-in hybrids.

Does 530e allow you to select temperature, etc.?

Doesn't let you select the temperature. I don't know whether it uses what you have selected in the car or some default. But it certainly heats and cools the cabin as required to reach the temp.

I keep my 330e AC on auto and when I precondition, the AC takes the car to the set temperature.

Would you be kind enough to attach/send a link to the actual Apple App Store that shows the specific app required for the 530e?

Thanks!

I don't know how to post a link to an IPhone app. But it should be the basic "BMW connected" app.
