Has anyone had issues with Tints effecting anything on their G30? I hearing issues with the auto dim of the idrive. Is it effected by all levels of tint?

Zero issues, used ceramic tint.

Anything? Yes, affects sun's ability to toast my black leather and otherwise weather my interior.

Other than affecting auto dimming of the iDrive screen, nope all is good. I'm gonna code out the auto dim feature.

Are you asking what tint you should use?

Post never posted complete. How dark is your tint and how do you code? Does it effect warranty?

30%.

Code this:

HU_NBT2 - 3005 Display PIP Info - DIM_VARIANT

Default: NEW

Change to: OLD

You should gain a manual brightness control that will override auto dim.

The light sensor is in the dash*. Tinting is generally not permitted on the front windshield, so it shouldn't affect operation.

* - or at least it used to be

I've had the dimming issue on two recent BMW's including the G30 and the tinting on the drivers side front window seems to cause the issue.

I always thought it was that bulb looking thing in the middle of the upper dash neat the windshield. I honestly haven't paid much attention to where it may be in the G30.

My windshield is lightly tinted. My driver windows are also lightly tinted, and the rears are more heavily tinted with nano ceramic tint, and according to Texas law. I have had a continuous, but intermittent problem with dash dimming, seemingly unrelated to where the sun actually is, and it is a problem, and was so evern before tinting. I will have the dealer look at it soon to see if they can impact it. I would love to have this feature turned off, but will not do coding from third party software (just my thing, sorry). Wish this feature could be easily turned off and totally manually controlled.
