Pulling the fuse won't work on a 540. Just remove the clip and use some metal safety wire to keep the flap open. A zip tie will melt so I wouldn't suggest that.

FYI my new 2023 540i I used bummer link to open the flap, and did same thing, just pulled the 7.5 fuse and flaps are open until I put fuse back in. 3 min total time I did tonight. Same fuse config as my M550. Just revived old thread!!

I also used bimmerlink to open the flap and pull the fuse. It's been this way for about a year now.

Yup, I just did that on my 2023 M550, and it works. Use the app to open the flaps, and pulling the fuse will not let them close. I just realized this old thread and brought it back to life. Also, I deleted the resonators with the Dinan mid pipes kit, and it sounds gnarly just revving it in the driveway. I just had major surgery and can't drive for a couple of weeks. I am chomping at the bit to release the beast on the street.

Do you have MHD? It gives you the option to leave the flap open.

You could lose some efficiency…. Burn some more dino juice. Payback is the aural enjoyment when you fire up the beast and drive it around.

The app does not keep them open all the time. The app only can keep them open when it is connected. So that is why you use the app to open them then pull the fuse to keep them open. No drone because in other driving modes, the flaps will open even in econ mode.

I used Bimmerlink then unpluged the cable and useda ziptie was how I first did it until MHD added an option that now has an exhaust force open/close option which is great!
