Interior smell strangeness

I've had my G30 for 24 hours. It's 6 months old, 3k miles on the clock, with very little sign of use inside or out.

There's something a bit odd about the smell of the interior. The closest I can describe it is that slight catching at the back of the throat if you have diesel on your hands and catch a whiff of it. There is no diesel or other chemical spillage as far as I can tell, it's probably just residual chemicals leaching out of the plastics in a car that's not had much use, but it's not particularly pleasant.

Anyone else ?

Or maybe it's some kind of spray the dealer used to prep the car ? Everything looks as it should from the factory, no sign of cheap and nasty polishes and sprays, but could be ?

Do you have the sensatec leatherette seats? I found in the loaner G30 I had with black sensatec there was an unpleasant lingering odor like you described.

Sesnsatec is not a seat option in most of Europe, only leather. Although the M-Sport does have a Sensatec covered dash so this could be the cause of the smell....have to say that mine only had a fairly standard "new car" smell

Could be the sensatec - that's probably the only major difference in materials between my F10 and my G30, and the F10 definitely didn't have this problem even when brand new.

Newspaper does an amazing job with absorbing odors and deodorizing. As does constantly driving around with the windows open.

Leave a handful of newspapers spread open and sprawled out throughout the interior over several nights - maybe for even up to a week. Using new, fresh newspapers each day helps too. Just gather and throw out each morning.

Do report back with results.

Good luck!

I have heard of newspaper absorbing humid but odors and deodorizing is news to me , pun intended
You could spread open throughout the drawers and it keeps oxidation away that's what I was told .
Normally when the car is new I can expect some smell but G30 doesn't smell at all , it's like you get a brand new Rolex Oyster but your bracelet doesn't squeak at all lol

Yes, deodorizes exceptionally well.

My 750 has been in the body shop for a month.

Somehow, someway in a 430 Convertible rental!

3k miles when I picked it up, but smelled so bad.

Newspapers did the trick. I've been using forever.

Smell is diminishing. I think it was some kind of subtle matte trim treatment the dealer stuck on it. Oh well.
