First blow out - $&!@
Driving home from work tonight I got a pot hole and the low pressure warning came on within 1 minutes. Drove home 3 miles with hazards on. I almost thought I was good. First time this happened at 6700 miles. I hope it’s not the rim. Tire is bubbles and I hear the leak. It was dark so I couldn’t see anything else.
Doing to limp to dealer in the AM. I actually have the spare kit so I may put it on to save the rim. I hope I get a loaner. I’ve got 2 current leases right now and have the wheel and tire insurance through them. If I don’t I’ll be very upset. I used to get one at Infiniti. |

No I avoided the 20” rims this go round. Had them on my Infiniti sport last lease. These are 19” on the BMW. Glad I got the spare tire kit. Hey guys there is no jack pad adapter included with the kit. Get it or make one otherwise you can damage the Jack point.
Because of this I’m waiting for a tow truck at 5:10 AM. Last edited by jsf721; 02-29-2020 at 04:42 AM.. |

Just got a call. Car is done.
Rim is fine, they say not a scratch. Tire replaced and rebalanced. Tires pressure system needed to be re programmed as some type of error in all 4 tires occurred after I mounted the spare without a TPMS. Looks like I got pretty lucky. Dealer was excellent. |

If you want to know what a First-World road network looks like, go to Poland, or France, or Germany. We have made our choice: another Manybucks Latte and not road taxes. Live the Life and live with our Third-World roads!

What kinda taxes do they pay in this country to support road upgrades and repairs? Any idea?

Have you considered non-runflat tires. I typically change mine out on all of BMW cars. However I am running 22's on my 7 now. Lesson learned, will not be going back this right once I purchase my 5 series.

In my recent trips, I paid about double for petrol compared to what I pay in Texas (which is a low gas tax State). If you want good roads, somebody's got to pay for them. If you don't pay what it costs to maintain roads, you get the USA road network. If you build an Interstate road for a 30-year life at a certain truck axle load, but then Congress raises the allowable truck axle load due to lobbying (and campaign $), you get a 20-year life. Or, in Texas you get heavy trucks carrying materials for fracking on rural Farm to Market roads and a County has to revert the road to gravel because they can't pay the cost of maintaining a paved road. We are getting what we have paid for--very little!

Given the pot hole slalom on Houston's streets, I just changed out my brand new Pirelli RF tires on my 2020 530e to Continental go-flats. I'm hoping the extra compliance will decrease stress on the tires and reduce damage. I'm saving the Pirelli RF tires for replacement on my wife's 2020 530e when they 1) wear out at 15K miles, or 2) have un-repairable damage. On her car, I ordered the Dynamic Damper Control shocks and I actually have a better ride in her car with RF tires than in my otherwise identical car with non-RF. The largest aspect ratio one can get from BMW is 245 x 45 x 18's and I'd never go for larger wheels on our streets.

I had a slow leak on my '18 540i Pirelli RF and the dealer would not repair. My tire/wheel insurance paid for a new 275/30R20 P Zero RF - cost me $50 deductible.

I'm not a huge fan of my run flats on my 2019 540 but I had non-RFTs on my last 750 with 21" rims - used to get two flats at once quite a few times a year, switched back. Saves the hassle.
As for the dealer - my dealer gives me a loaner for any reason. And I now go to a different dealer, closer to home, where I've only bought one car from them and it was 10 years ago, and I still get a loaner every time from them. |

If you don’t want to wait too long to change and have really good fun, go to a few high performance driving events at a track.
