This is the kind of race I like...the kind where we have zero control over the outcome. It's always best to be hyper competitive in such situations. Taunting is a must. For example: Your car is so slow it tried to cross the road and got a parking ticket!

I am trying to be optimistic in the presence of your agony...you've been waiting a whole extra month for your build relative to mine. I sympathize.

Saturday? Germans start the week on Monday. I count six days!

We've probably read the same threads indicating a 5-10 day latency once the boat lands. But who knows...Forecasting is mostly a recipe for agony. I say enjoy the anticipation. Soon it will be replaced with the torment of keeping the beast caged (i.e. the engine below 4500 RPMs while it wears in) for several hundred miles...

So the only reason you are being nice is because you are laughing at me all right I get it. Well your car is slow that Pep Boys doesn't have anything left to sell you!

Yes, I see it changed to the 28th, too, on marinetraffic.com.
When I originally called BMW Genius on Saturday they said 27th.

I am actually surprised at how much delay there is for these ships. For a two week trip to delay one day is quite a bit. If you look at a full year, that would be 26 days, or 1.5 trips. The shipping companies are leaving 5% revenue on the table because of the delays. Yes I am assuming a bunch here....

That being said, it's an estimate.....I know someone here posted a few weeks ago that the ship was supposed to arrive at port on a certain day but it ended up getting there several days early.

Update from BMW Genius
* Arrived at VPC at midnight 2/21
* Scheduled for shipping Saturday, 2/24
* Schedule dealer deliver Monday, 2/26

Looks like I will be on a business trip when they are actually ready to deliver it to me. I will not get it till Friday, March 2.

Wow. There was no time wasted in customs! Did you call BMW Genius or did they call you?

Also, I admit it. I was wrong. That's definitely next week, even if you use the German week!

Last, following up on how slow your car is: When you pick it up from the dealer it will have no doors -- they will have been blown clean off by my car!

I called BMW Genius. I am trying to avoid being that customer to my dealer. I understand they really can't do too much when the car is on a boat crossing the ocean or is stuck in customs.

After you suggested the car could come sooner, I did Google search for more examples of VPC time to delivery. I was starting to think you were correct, but some of the data was a bit older. I did talk to my dealer just to confirm the expectation of 2/26 and he basically agreed. He said the trucking companies are basically +/- 1 day. Once it is on the truck he will reach out to me to schedule a pick up time.

Your joke was hilarious. Too bad you have to own a car first. I don't think your matchbox BMW is going to cut it.

Germans, being masters of military tactics, recognized that it would be futile to install doors on your car as they would, as stated above, be blown clean off, even by my Matchbox M550i. The Americans at the VPC, lacking such tactical mastery, wondered why the Germans neglected to install doors on this particular vehicle. So, they're busing installing doors...a futile exercise!

The Morning Charlotte is getting close to Port Hueneme...should dock in a few hours...

Much to my chagrin, the Morning Charlotte spent the night at anchor (or driving in slow circles in the anchorage at Port Hueneme). But, first thing this morning, it came in and was moored!

If I had to guess, I'd say that Port Hueneme does not operate 24 hours a day. So, they were either waiting for the pilot/tug crews and/or the longshoreman crew to be ready to unload. Anybody have insight there?

Congrats! Although, as we all know, the first rule of the internet is "pics or it didn't happen."

Excellent news! So you only went 3 days between the boat docking to dealer delivery? That is damn fast.

Yes only 3 days between port and dealer. My dealer was watching it hit the port and he emailed the trucking company to get it on a truck ASAP. Big thumbs up to him. He also gave me a loaner 4 series convertible for the last week. They definitely over delivered on the back end.

So the car is absolutely incredible. I was most recently driving a 2013 Audi S6 with an APR tune. I do not know about raw performance yet because I am not going to beat on a brand new car that is not even broken in yet. I do know the car rotates unbelievable in sport mode and yes I have DHP. I can't believe how fun that is. The ride height does seam a touch higher than the non DHP M550. They had one on the showroom floor. It was maybe 1/4". The car stance is still excellent and does not look like a big fender wheel gap. I was worried the 759 wheels would be really shiny however they match the grills and mirrors perfectly. I don't regret that decision at all. Classy sporty look verses sporty aggressive look of 668.

The sound system is phenomenal yes B&W. The bass is perfect and imaged right up front. I would be shocked if the HK system got anywhere near this sound and no I don't want a debate on can you hear it in car. Go to another thread.

The massage seats are great. Better that S6. It is wierd having the massage function on the legs as the S6 did not have that. The intensity feels about the same. Only 3 levels instead of 5, but the highest feels the same. I will be interested to try the different programs.

The rear seat entertainment will take some work to figure out. I thought it was touchscreen but it is not. They is a wireless remote that is like an idrive. I will probably need another one... One for each kid because no touchscreen and basically useless with remote. It didn't come with headphones so I will have to ask the dealer about that. There is a DVD player in the back.

The electronics are much improved compared to the S6 and that means the driving safety electronics, the HUD, and the infotainment. This car is wow. I will write more later.

I'll take better photos in the next few days. There is supposed to be rain the next few mornings, so I'll probably have to clean the car before I get some better photos.

Very nice! I should have mine in 4 weeks. The Performance Center delivery causes an extra wait to get a date with them. It will be Mediterranean Blue over Mocha with the 759s.

Nice! Are those the M Sport booster seats I've been hearing so much about? I'm curious to hear more about the DHP. I couldn't find a car with it to test drive 'round here. And whenever I asked about it most people indicated that it was not a very popular option. I never was one to go against the crowd...

I just called BMW Genius. My car has been released to carrier. So that was a 36-48 hour turnaround through customs and the VPC. Unfortunately, it's not supposed to get a ride up I-5 until Wednesday. So close. Yet so far away.

Beautiful car, Spyfish, and thanks for your participation in this thread. I've followed it quite a bit. My car arrives in Brunswick GA tonight and I can only hope that it gets to my Atlanta dealership very soon.

The extra time for PDC must be agonizing. The event does look really fun. Maybe I'll do that on the next one. Definitely post after you do the PDC!
