530e Oil Change Interval
I know maintenance is covered for the first 3 years, so my question mainly pertains to after that period.
I very rarely use the engine on my 530e. After about 2000 miles, the engine has probably been on maybe 3 or 4 times, and I'm still on the tank of gas the dealer gave me with the car. Out of curiosity, does the oil still need to be changed every 7500 miles even if the oil is rarely being used? Or does this actually mean the opposite, and I should get the oil changed *more* frequently? |

I think the BMW recommended interval is the shorter of 10K miles or 1 year. I will not hit the 10K mile test but I will bring my car in for the oil change at the 1 year point (December for me).

You really don't need to change the oil Synthetic oil doesn't break down much just sitting there, but I probably wouldn't go more than 2 years even with the limited ICE usage you have.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I love the feel of the acceleration when I press down on the gas in my 540 in sport mode but still on your first tank of gas is crazy. I guess it's true, we're all going to be driving electric cars some day soon.
BMW says 1 year and yes synthetic doesn't breakdown or absorb moisture like regular oils but it's a expensive car so imho I would just chance it every January. I'm not a BMW mechanic but I would think it would be good to force the gas engine to run once a month just to get the oil to lubricate the parts. Gas on the other hand does go bad from just sitting there so maybe a good idea to add stabilizers to it like Sea Foam. Maybe good questions for service department.

how much do you drive everyday ?
i think you are fine to just do the normal service intervals. if anything you could probably get away with not changing the oil since you are not using the gas engine . maybe i should get one to daily if its like that Quote:

G30 530e here and I've been using the normal maintenance intervals and let the car decide. The first oil change was around 32 000 kms (or 20 000 miles). I had it done as soon as the car requested service, so would have been good for another 2000 kms according to the car.
I've driven 53 000 kms so far and the car estimates next service in 14 000 kms. |

my car is a lease so I am doing what BMW recommends and nothing more. I have the service package included and the additional wear and tear package and I'm going with that.
