I've got a 530d which is nearly 8 months old from new. For the past week I've noticed that when the engine stops during auto stop start, there is a rough sound like a "unbalanced fan" noise slowing down before stopping. It's hard to describe but its like a gentle "thudding" sound a second or two before the fan stops as part of the engine switching off. I haven't heard that until the past week, so wondering if it was normal Admittedly I've always had the radio/music on but have had that off to try and pin point the noise. Even with music on you can sort of notice it when stopping.
I'll probably book it in for check soon but thought I check on here first to see if anyone has experienced a similar sound or give some ideas so I can mention it when taking the car in. It may be nothing and is normal and just me with a sensitive ear.

Thought I put this thread back to the top to see if anyone has the same experience. Dealer had one attempt but didn't find anything. Will book in again at some point for them to have a second attempt.

^ The dealer diatribe of "...cannot duplicate the customers concern.." is used too often to sidestep a warranty repair, but at least it is a good idea to have them document it.
