Can the instrument cluster show RPMs in 530e?

Hey guys, it's bothering me that I can't see the RPMs in comfort mode lol. Can the right side of the speedometer be changed to show RPMs instead?[IMG][/IMG]

Assume there is no option in idrive to configure that?
Didn't realise that was the default display for a 530e

I swear I tried to find it but can't. I'm not even sure if the display makes sense when the battery is at 0% since you technically can't draw power from a dead battery?

I haven't been able to do it. I think the reason is that RPMs make no sense when you have two motors interacting and one is an electric motor.

I'm afraid that might be true. But when the battery is depleted to 0% how does the speedometer make sense when you're revving the car and the needle goes to eBOOST?

On a separate note this reminds me of Knight Rider's KITT's TurboBoost circa 1990s lol.

The battery doesn't go all the way down. BMW saves a significant portion to protect the battery. I suspect that it also uses some of that saved portion for boost but they don't say so. IMHO the reason they don't tell us that is that if someone managed to get it all the way down (maybe racing) and didn't get boost that was promised, they might sue. So BMW says that boost may not exist if depleted.

I peronsally like have the rev counter in my 330e. I think I remember reading in a 530e Owners Manual that if you have the full digital instrument panel, putting the car in Sport Mode shows the rev counter.

Well if it can't a workaround might be to configure sport individual with the settings that you like in comfort mode. Presumably it will then display rpms.

There is a way to have it show on the iDrive screen. I have put it up there a few times, but not regularly.

Throw the shift lever to the left. Your % should change to revs.

100% incorrect. As I said before, just toggle the shift paddle to M/S. Your % gauge will switch to RPM.

I would also like to know if this is possible but I've always just estimated the RPMs. Assuming redline is at 7k RPMs, at 50% power I just visualize hitting 3.5k RPMs.

I coded my car for the Alpina display. It shows the tach in both sport and comfort mode (in my case in adaptive mode as well). I do lose the info on charging but I still get to see the numeric display of electric miles remaining. The display shows the battery gauge but it is actually showing the oil temp (I assume the reason for all this is that the Alpina doesn't come as a phev so it isn't coded to show it).

I have the same car, and you have to do as marsb007 said:

This is my power solution (I otherwise drive in Adaptive mode). But the OP is looking for a solution in comfort mode so I doubt he is looking for the gearing changes.

When the ICE is not being used, the Tach shows "0". But when the ICE cuts in or runs, then the Tach shows the rpms.
