Fold out position for wipers
Hi all
I haven't yet managed to work out the correct procedure to put the wipers in fold out/service position. After RTFM, I followed what I understood to be the instructions there, but it didn't work, so I went to my dealer. They didn't know either. A fellow from the service dept sat in my car, held down the wiper stalk and kept jabbing away haphazardly at the start/stop button and eventually the flapping wipers stopped in a vertical position. "There you go!", he said. So since then, I have been doing the same thing every time I go to wash the car, but it seems silly, and I doubt that is how it is meant to be done. I can't work out what the magic formula or order is: Z x wiper stalk + Y x stop/start button? Anyone know what the secret is? Maybe I'm ready the manual incorrectly, but I think I have reasonable comprehension skills, so I doubt it. Thanks in advance! |

Yeah, pretty much what Rob500 said. Turn the car on (don't start the engine), then hold the wiper stalk down. After 2-3 wipes the wipers will stop in the up position. Works every time for me.

On my F10, I could put gentle up pressure on the wiper and they would move up to the middle of the windshield. I would then fold them out. On our G01 X3, I have to do the process listed here. While it works, I have to remember to get the windshield nice and wet first. I don't like the blades running on a dry windshield.

I think the secret is the HOLD part. I did like Op and held it until it was vertical then let go so it would stop. Good to know now because it need to apply Aquapel and this will help.

A belated thank you to all who responded to this thread. I tried your suggestions recently and it now works as advertised. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong the previous times I tried. Maybe I was just impatient.
In any case, it's odd that the service guy at the dealership didn't know how to do it, and misled me. |

Interesting. Not knowing the procedure outlined in the G30 owners manual (you didn't mention your steps either)...I had no issue following the instructions in my f06's owners manual. Are the instruction the same (see page from f06/f12/f13 owners manual below)?
Do you think it was step 3's..."hold for 3 seconds" that did you in?

I know the procedure was different on the F10 because of the 2 press thing with the start/stop button, but I don’t recall having any problems with that car. |
