ENET Cable for G30

My apologies if this has been answered previously (and I'm sure it probably has), but is it same to assume that the ENET cables for the F-Series will also work for the G-Series? An ODB connector is an ODB connector, but all of the cables on Amazon all have language about F-Series cars only.

I was about to order one of these two (not sure what the differences are, but they have solid reviews unlike a lot of the others):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...7PRT9WGS&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...7PRT9WGS&psc=1

If you think there's a higher-quality cable out there, I don't mind spending more money. I'm looking forward to Almaretto programming my existing CarPlay to widescreen format. Thanks!

I would also have Almaretto do the Dazzle headlights which cannot be done with Bimmercode. He does great work.

I have total confidence in him. What does the dazzle feature do exactly? I already have the full adaptive headlights and auto high beams options. Doesn't it have something to do with features that are disabled in the US? Thanks, man!

Yes, it is decoded for the US. Allows tunneling of the headlights which essentially stay in high beam mode most of the time and then tunnel around incoming cars and cars in front of you. It is one of the coolest features of the car and mind blowing when you see it in action. It is also great for nighttime driving, since you are really maximizing the LED lights. It is enabled by putting Auto Headlights ON.

It is a multistep coding process which requires someone like Almaretto.

Here is a video:

Thanks man! Looks like I'll be hiring him to do this and the CarPlay widescreen. What cable did you end up buying? They are all over Amazon, but none of them mention G series. I'm sure the F series ones will work just fine since the wiring pins the same.

Correct, the F series one works. I bought mine off ebay:

@Almaretto just coded my full screen iDrive. I love it! That dazzle headlight feature looks amazing, too bad I didn't get the icon headlights when I bought my car

That's awesome! Those are the exact two features I want him to enable. My ENET cable will be here on Sunday.

I don't know about the lighting, but the CarPlay widescreen requires a minor coding change and a modification to the CarPlay.INI file inside of the head unit. If the service center does a firmware update, the file would have to be reapplied.

So I just had my car recoded by the dealer for some software related recall. Almaretto took care of it by simply recoded my mods.

My ENET cable has arrived. I definitely want to do the anti-dazzle, widescreen CarPlay, and possibly VLD. To be honest, I don't really know what VLD really does or if I should even mess with it. I believe it has something to do with lighting for low-beam. Can anyone shed some "light" (no pun intended) on this for me? Thank you so much.

Almaretto, perhaps we can schedule something for tomorrow if it's convenient for you. Thank you.

VLD is explained in Almaretto's G30 coding doc. It allows the headlights to turn with the steering wheel at low speeds. Crazy not to get coded while doing everything else.

Thank you. I figured they should probably be done together, but I wasn't completely sure. Collectively speaking, have we worked out all of the coding issues doing this on a G30? I have read a lot of posts on various forums on BimmerPost, some of them not so recent, looks like there was a lot of trial and error being discussed. Almaretto will be doing my coding for me. Thank you.

Almaretto for one has. It works great on my car.

Excellent. I have total confidence in him. What other things should I have him do while he's in there that I can't do with BimmerCode (basic mode)? I have already done most of the things that it can do (Alpina display, disable ASS, disable disclaimers, video in motion, trunk close with remote, etc.).

I wouldn't mind having the ability to close the sunroof and roll the windows up when I lock the car with the remote, and be able to reverse it on unlock. Not sure what's involved with that. Easy entry would be nice too.

Thanks!

I thought the light already turns, even without lighting package and all that?

No, it is decoded for US as is anti-dazzle. It is more complex than just turning the lights:

Here is a more detailed explanation about VLD found in Coding Threat thanks to opasha

Variable Light Distribution has several different modes of operation (for Low Beam):

1 - City Light: Shallow and Very Wide Beam Pattern active from 0 - 50kph (30MPH) (Both Headlamps are Panned outwards 12 horizontal from center and 0.7 lowered vertically)

2 - Standard Light: Same Basic Beam Pattern as with 8S4 Enabled and Headlamp Switch Set to Auto. Active from 50 - 110kph (30MPH - 68MPH)

3 - Guiding Fog Light - Shallow and Wider Beam Pattern Enabled with the Front Fog Lamps On and Headlamp Switch in Auto and Speed 0 - 110kph (Both headlamps are panned outwards 8 horizontal from center and lowered 0.7 vertically)

4 - Highway Light - Long Throw Pattern illuminating approx. 25% further than Standard Light. Active from 110 to 250kph (68MPH- 155MHP). (Driver's Side Headlamp is panned 3.5 outwards Horizontal from center and lowered 0.25 vertically, while the passenger side headlamp is raised 0.2 vertical) (thank you @shawnsheridan)

Clarification of VLD, HBA, and Anti-Glare/Anti-Dazzle (thank you @skalberti):

VLD is Variable Light Distribution - It only works on your low beams to move your headlights and position the beams on the road depending on steering angle and vehicle speed.

HBA is High Beam Assistant - USA spec high beams that turn off in the presence of headlights or taillights of other cars and automatically turns the high beams on if no other cars are present.

Anti-Glare, Anti-Dazzle - European spec high beams that enable your car to keep the high beams on without blinding other cars.
