Rear, Driver Side Door Speaker Static when Sunroof Open?
I have an intermittent issue with my vehicle; but also experienced it on a couple loaner vehicles from the dealer. I've experienced this over the past 2 years.
On my car, I have a B&W system. When playing audio (music, podcast, even happened on a test with a phone call), I tend to sometimes get static out of the rear, driver side door tweeter and/or midrange speaker when the sunroof is open. I checked the speakers with ISTA and the test tones play fine. I don't have any fault codes on the amp. If I leave the sunroof open and shut off the headunit, the speaker(s) will still emit static. Closing the sunroof and the static disappears. I tried swapping my phone (Google Pixel 3XL) and I can still get the static to happen. If I close the sunroof, the static tends to go away. I also had this happen on other loaner cars from the dealer (X5 and 530) both had the HK system. Same scenario with the sunroof open and same Pixel 3 XL phone. Any ideas? It's a weird issue. I was wondering if it might be some volume compensation feature that is clipping the audio? Thanks TG |
