M550 Cosmetic Updates
Greetings, Just picked up a 2018 M550. Needed to update the exterior as I am not a huge fan of the grey exterior trim. Purchased the black grilles, black bumper trim pieces as well as the side vent pieces. Just finished installing them. Need to find a source for inexpensive mirror caps. Not quite ready to spend the money on what is out there today. Would like a set of gloss black to match the other pieces. Might have my local body shop paint them if spring rolls around and still no replacements yet. I will post better pics once the weather clears up a little. Thanks for looking.

I am torn on the cerium grey accents. I have left them on my carbon black car, but have replaced the front grill with a black one.
I think the accents, including the door handle trim, help the car exude it's premium price and slot. On a white car or maybe other lighter colors, I would look into black trim pieces. I am generally not a fan of fully murdered cars and sometimes the right use of complementary trim can help change the cars visual clues - making it seem larger, smaller, etc.

My M550 is med blue, and i also like the contrast of the cerium grey parts. Am thinking about changing mirror caps to paint matched, but haven’t decided if want to make the change

Also like the gray on my Azurite Black. I might consider swapping the mirror caps for body color, but for the grill and vents I think the contrast is nice.
Agree that it doesn't really sit as well with white/lighter colored cars, though. |
