iDrive constantly crashes after 11/20 update
Has anyone else received the November 2020 software update ? I just received it the other day at the service center...and now...my idrive is constantly rebooting. It rebooted 3 times when I drove just for 10 minutes. I was only using bluetooth to play some music from my android phone. Anyone else have this issue?

I don't have this issue but my idrive kept rebooting on my old 2018 G31. Usually when they reboot that indicates a software issue and should be fixed under warranty and in some cases the software can cause the hardware to fail and the whole module needs replaced. I would take it back to the service centre and most likely they will try and re-install the software again

crazzy76 - I assume you are referring to a 2020 model with what the forum guys here call iDrive 7 lite due to the lack of remote software update. And just earlier this month I had my dealership perform the update which includes Android Auto. Everything working fine. If yours is crashing/unstable they will have to do it again.

MauriSteve - Yes, I have a 2020 model. Which update did you have your dealership do? I have a us spec car but I am living overseas. The dealership told me I had to wait until the next quarterly update to fix the constant reboots. They also told me I cannot get android auto as well. Car Play works with no issues but for some reason AA is a no go. I am guessing its from the "lite" version I have.

Crazzy76 - I kinda poked around in there to find a iDrive version, then took a pic for you. If this is not the correct screen for version information then perhaps you can specify the menu path.

Well Crazzy76, this might actually be a blessing in disguise for you as when you take your G30 back the newest iDrive 7 update with Amazon Alexa may be available to install into your car. In fact, you should probably specify that you want this due to the problems you are experiencing.

I found a solution that works for me. I have Samsung phone and had to switch Bluetooth AVRCP version to 1.5 as it was rebooting iDrive on 1.6. Just go to developer options, search for AVRCP, set it to 1.5 and reboot the phone. Problem gone.

I went to S15A-20-11-542 at the dealers a few weeks ago and no crashing.
Apple carplay on the other hand can be glitchy after I coded to wide screen, audio replay can crackle in and out now and again. |

Did you guys solve the problem? I have the same exact issue I'm not even using android auto. I'm connecting via Bluetooth and using YouTube music. I checked developer settings in my Samsung s10 plus but my default Bluetooth AVRCP settings is already 1.5. Any other ideas? 😔
