How do you re-address/sync new ambient light trim?
Hey, all. Sorry if this has been covered somewhere but I'm not seeing it, if so.
After breaking (not one but) two ambient light tubes (trying to swap the tubes from a used trim to the original LED's/trim panel), I'm just going replace the trim, altogether. (Honestly, why BMW doesn't have a way to buy these tubes is just dumb, and one of the most irritating manufacturing idiocies I'm encountered.) Anyway, since I'm going to just use the LEDs in the new (used: Ebay) trim, I understand that the replacement LED modules will have to be addressed/coded into my car. Anyone know how to do that, or am I going to have to take the car into the dealer? |

The LED module must be re-addressed after replacement.
The address can only be configured with the diagnosis system. If a swap of LED modules was carried out as part of the troubleshooting, this swap should be reversed prior to autoaddressing. |

You can replace them without doing anything first.
If they dont work properly then you can try re-addressing them. You can use ISTA to do that, if you dont have it then I can do it for you remotely using ENET cable and windows laptop. |
