Just a simple question about color choice of G30 MSport
Good day!
I have a choice between 2 G30 MSports. They are used ones, but with rather low mileage and the prices minus 30% of new ones, so, on my opinion each of them can be a good deal. Both cars are similar the differences are color of exterior and interior. The first car is Alpine White with Oyster Nappa Pros: price is 3k USD lower and an opportunity to get additional 500 USD reduction is supposed, I adore Oyster Dacota on my current F10, white color seems clean much longer than any dark color, especially black one. Contras: I really don't understand if white color fits G30, in particular G30, cause I had no prejudice against F10 in White, but white G30 doesn't attract my gaze by some reason. But maybe after short time of ownership I'll get use to it and moreover will start to enjoy the exterior. The second is Carbon Black with Black Nappa Pros: on my opinion that color perfectly fits the appearance of G30 MSports and looks quite aggressive and serious, perfect man's color. Contras: price is 3k higher, black color doesn't remain clean very long in our climate, a single wash by careless staff leaves scratches which shine on sun and break a heat of an owner, I don't like black interior very much and I don't like feeling when the sun is baking you in a black car with black interior, whilst tinting front windows is prohibited in Russia now. I'll be very grateful for every opinion or advice, shall I try to get use to Alpine white and expect that when I become an owner I will love my car, or shall I buy the Carbon black and enjoy the appearance in very rare moments when it's clean and waxed, bearing with the contas I mentioned above? |

I'd say go white. White cars are much cooler in summer heat, they do not show dust/dirt much, and they do not stand out on the street, that is, if you like your vehicle to blend in.
In my town just about a half of all BMWs are white, therefore any one of them is not much of an attention grabber, which suits me fine. |

Throw another option out there, are you pushed timewise to get one of these?
I was going to suggest if you are not quite happy to continue looking and look for another one? Would echo about the carbon black paint. Absolutely superb when clean and looked after but if not cleaned properly will highlight swirl marks very easily. |

Thanks to all who took part in the discussion!
Especially for interesting remarks concerning carbon black, I quite agree that it requires to much care to show it's advantages, so I almost remove it from the list of colors I am thinking about. Now I'm owning space grey F10 and I'm quite happy with the color, and the best option for G30 for me is Bluestone with Oyster interior, but Alpine White with Oyster is the most attractive price and there is no any car in my area with Oyster Interior except this one. |

I would say if the heat of the black and it's long lasting durability is definitely a know problem in your neck of the woods then the White/Oyster is the easy choice, given all other tech/interior specs are the same.

Seems like Carbon Black isn't getting much love here, so I will cast a vote for it. I have owned Five-series M Sport cars since 2010 and really love the color. At a distance and on cloudy days it looks black but in the bright sunshine it is a beautiful very dark blue. People are often surprised by the color. I have always had tan interiors with it but I am sure black looks fine as well. Does need to be cleaned more frequently than white though.--Bob

I'd add to the mix Mediterranean Blue which I love. Having said that, although Black is difficult to maintain, it does add to the aggressive look of the car. My partner doesn't like black. So I ended up compromising and going with Med Blue to keep her happy

Carbon black certainly looks incredible when clean, but it doesn't last too long. Really love the color and certainly a change from my always "safe" silver colored daily driver. Only a month with it so I don't know how I'll feel a year from now and after a winter.

Finally, I've obtained the car, and it's in Carbon Black and Mocca.
Though I was very close to buy White on Oyster, I had been permanently thinking of Carbon Black and when I got a car history of White, I was very disappointed to see a lot of works due to traffic accidents, so I rejected that option and then made a deal for a year older car, but with no accidents at all and in the color I was thinking of. I can completely agree now that every dirt is very visible and every scratch, but sometimes we must allow our heart decide and not our brain , mustn't we? |
