Bimmercode Headunit

Hello,

I am new to coding my 2017 BMW 530i and for some reason when I’m trying to get into the Headunit tab, it’s not allowing me.

I am from Toronto, Canada.

Can someone please help? I’m looking to do a few things, like making Apple Car Play full screen.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you

I had a similar issue on my G12, and it was because the BT ODB reader that I use was not supported by Bimmercode for some functions.

So you may want to start there.

Yeah if you bought cheaper adapters from aliexpress that tends to happen.

Thanks, I will try a new adapter. I was using Vgate OBD2 Vlinker. So maybe it was that because it was cheaper.

I tried a new adapter. OBDLinkCX, I still can’t get into the Headunit tab.

Basically I just want to make CarPlay full screen lol.

Not sure what it is. Do I have to update software? Does it have to do something with my Apple CarPlay? Every video tutorial I watch, everyone gets into the Headunit tab easily in Bimmercode.

Yes, that’s the one I’ve been using. No issues but thought maybe it was the reason I couldn’t get into the Headunit tab but it wasn’t the adapter

This is the same thing that has happened to me. I purchased an Android device and the Protool app. E-sys does something to the HU when enabling full screen carplay that won't let Bimmercode in.

If you have a 2017 like me then you cannot enable full screen carplay without remote coding. You need to update NBT to the newest version before you can enable full screen.

This OBD adaptor is what I now use and it's never let me down. MHD has a new OBD adapter as well that has good reviews.

What are you seeing when you try to go into the HU tab? Is it an error message or what is happening exactly?

When you get that message, try going to the bottom and click activation codes. I had an issue where some activation codes showed 'rejected' and I believe it would not let me code anything in the HU because of that. Might be worth checking to see if it's a similar issue.

I did that, but not many options came up.

Do a search for "full screen CarPlay ID6". There are multiple threads about the topic that go into detail better than I can explain.
