Hello Everyone!
Kinda new here, happy to be a part of this community.

Just have a question about coding the reverse cam. Do I need an ICOM device (such as ICOM Next), or can it be done via ENET cable as well?

Also, if anyone could help me with the coding (530e 2019, NBT Evo P, G30), it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million.

ENET cable is enough.

Hello everyone,

I m also planing to retrofit the rear view camera.
The BMW tools say I need a camera with part number 66557942742.
I know I need an Icam2-r. In eBay there are a lot of Icam2-r with different part number.

Does someone know if I can use every type of Icam2-r?

I have esys but only some skills . I can add VO 3AG and inject a CAFD.

Thanks a lot

Hello everyone,

Is it really necessary to disconnect the battery?
Will some control units be blockt when I pull the 2 plugs for Ethernet on the BDC unit? Or only a lot of errors that can easily be deleted with ista?

Thanks a lot

Icam2-S is only for Surround view, if you only have Rear view Camera you need ICAM2-R

Hi.

The threads a little old now but hoping someone around can help me code the reverse camera to the car. I'm using esys with bimmerutility. It's been years since I've messed around with coding. I'm just staring blankly at Esys and Bimmerutility.

All of the hardware is connected - just need some guidance on the coding, for example how to add 3AG and if any other modules then need altering? I've searched all of the cheat codes on bimmerutility but cant find anything relating to the camera. Also I've had Carplay activated by remote coding and dont want to do anything that might break that.

Thanks, Ben.

Ok, I’ve successfully added 3AG. I’ve now got the camera icon, along with a few others on the reverse screen but no camera image. Just the normal car icon and PDC markers.

Headunit (HU_NBT2/HU_MGU), ACSM5, ICAM, USS (PDC module), BDC_BODY2/3

Hi Benos,

You are very close, have a look at my post back a page, I have put up a picture like you have when I got mine working.
I followed Sasquartch's post Number 36 on this thread. He details the 3 modules you need to code.

My post is Number 54 (each post is numbered in top right corner).
I got some error messages as Sasquartch mentiond but mine disappeared once I restarted the car and as I said in my post a legit service message stayed which was fine.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Looking at what you’ve suggested and speaking with Sasquartch it looks like I’ll need to revisit my wiring. I did wire according to the amended oem instructions but I had a little trouble with the DuPont pin connectors - could not get them seated correctly or at least far enough in to click the little metal tabs. I’m trying to source some more then I’ll rewire the 3 cables into the BDC. Reason being is I’m not showing the ICAM4 module to code.

My understanding is that the module is the camera itself, so if it’s not wired correctly then it won’t show. I’ve coded all other ecu’s, except the DME or those not showing a new CADF file. I’ll keep you posted.

Benos, what you say about the 3 cables not "clicking" in far enough rings a bell with me.
I ordered the fitting kit (66212450878) from https://www.hubauer-shop.de and came to the conclusion that the connectors at the end of those 3 wires were too long by a couple of mm's.
I felt that the locking clip on that metal insert was back too far (remember thinking I would be screwed if I broke the connector from pushing so hard).
I put a piece of imalgamating tape between the 2 pins that are side by side - that was incase the couple of mm's sticking out of the connector ever contacted each other and all worked fine.
Imalgamating tape is like a softer insulating tape.
Probably me just been ultra cautious!!

From experience I would recheck the easiest wiring connections first, by that I mean the camera wiring in the boot. Just double check that first.
I used the fitting instructions (revised PDF) as I have attached in post 52 here.

Trust me, I wouldn't doubt any advice from Sasquartch - go with that for sure but it's just that with me the 3 connectors didn't click in all the way in the BDC connector also.

Good Luck!!

Marodon, thanks for that. Everything you’ve described is what happened to me. The pins felt like they were in as far as they would go but they were still not seated correctly. They weren’t loose and stayed put, so I just went with it, in the absence of new connector pins. I have some insulating tape so I’ll use that as well when I re-pin the wires.

Yes, I’ll try the wires in the boot first as the other thing that could cause issues is the splicing block that came with the oem kit. I’ll check it’s sending power to the camera then work my way forward. It’s reassuring that others have faced the same issues and overcome them, so thanks again.

good morning, if I don't have the ICAM4, KAFAS module, can I mount the camera? should i buy these modules? where to connect them? Is there anything that can be done or should I forget about the reversing camera?

Hi all,

A few questions for those who've done this:

- Does the retrofit kit come with the wires already crimped?

- I see a few of you have mentioned about the connector pins not being the right size (too big?) for the sockets? Does the retrofit kit still work with these bigger pins, or does it need rewired with smaller connectors?

- G31 owners... how was the process for the touring? Any added complications? I'd like to do this myself if I can, but if it's going to be stress fest, then I'll get someone else to do it.

Hi there, long story short.
G30 without rear camera.

All wires were installed according to the instruction (3 ethernets, power, ground). All were checked twice (signals, etc.)

But Esys and ISTA didn't see the Icam2 or TRVCS during the system check.

Maybe someone can give some advice how to check camera itself or any ideas where the problem can be.

Thanks in advance.
